A local city council and mayor rules over the city, and council seats go up for election every two years, and the position of mayor every four.

Much of Washington has stayed unchanged since the late 20th century. Shown below are two paintings of the cityscape, C. 2030.

It was named After President George Washington. Construction of the city's core ended in 1800. It was raided by the British Army in 1814, But quickly rebuilt. During the Civil war, it was a critical location to the USA, being the nation's capital. During the Civil war, the national Capitol building's signature dome was built. Throughout the 20th century, it would serve as a cultural and national icon of American power. On January 6th, 2021, a mob stormed the Capitol building after a protest got out of hand. The city was hit with a bomb on September 8th, 2068,  towards the end of WWIV, but the bomb did not damage any of the Governmental buildings or monuments but did destroy multiple hotels, civilian buildings, and businesses. The city saw little activity until it was attacked in 2159 by forces loyal to the People's Terran Supremacy (PTS) and became an occupied territory until 2175. Since then, the city has seen no major events.

It is located between the states of Maryland and Virginia, with the Potomac River to the south.
