Structure
The European Union is a federal republic. The President is elected directly by the people, and the Chancellor is elected by the Parliament. The Parliament itself is elected by popular vote. The winning candidates from each respective country in the European Union send however many MPs are elected by the country, proportional to population. The countries within the European Union are: Portugal, Spain, Basque, Catalan, France, Italia, Sicilia, Sardinia, Corsica, Benelux, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Faeroe, Finland, Karelia, Baltica, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Romanian, Bosnia, Serbia, Montenegro, Vojvodina, Kosovo, Albania, Helles, Bulgaria, Malta, Cyprus, Balearic, Azores, Canary, & Madeiras. Countries without MPs and greater autonomy are: England, Greenland, & Turkey.

The European Union was founded in 1952 under the name of 'The European Steel and Coal Community´, intended for free trade between its member states. In 1958, the European Economic Community all but replaced it, and in 1967, formally replaced the European Steel and Coal Community. In 1993, it would be renamed for the final time, as the European Union. From 1999-2003, The European Union adopted a single currency. By 2010, a majority of Europe had joined. In 2020, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. And when the third world war broke out in Eastern Europe in 2033, many feared the EU would collapse as a result; however the opposite happened. The European Union not only survived the war but after seeing what division in the continent could cause, More European governments joined the EU and its power strengthened. In 2044, just 7 years after the end of WWIII, Several European Governments United into a single nation that would be called the European Union. Over the coming decades, more European countries would unite into this United European country. In 2067, The European Union as an international organization ceased to exist; instead, almost all of Europe was now part of the same national government known as the European Union. The EU would be a founding member of the 1st Terran Republic. In 2117, as the 1st Republic collapsed, The EU began to fall apart with separatist movements rising, and The Terran Empire having conquered half the country. In 2134, the European Union collapsed. But the country's government officials fled to the USA, where they lived in exile until 2175 when during the great revolution, they returned to Europe and the European Union was restored as a member of the 2nd Terran Republic. The European Union continues to be one of the most progressive members of the Republic.
