History

Once upon a time, Kaldia was a member of the Drow noble house known as Misraria, and such a curious little scamp despite the inherent danger of being such. Naturally, this eventually came by to bite her when she found her way into libraries replete with forbidden, cursed knowledge, consisting of advanced magical theory and even the True Name of a powerful demon.
Said demon, of course, took offense to such knowledge being known and demanded that Kaldia be sacrificed - though ironically, she interrupted the sacrifice by invoking that same demon's True Name to bid it to rescue her, which it did by grabbing the drow child and teleporting blindly, conveniently ending up in Qadira - a land of burning sunlight as a last spite for the girl.
While she managed to survive her sacrifice, she still had to deal with bleeding out in the middle of a desert with only an infuriated demon for company. Conveniently, as was often the case in such magical times, a traveling caravan of slave merchants happened across the scene and, not recognizing a Drow, presumed her to be some sort of corrupted elf - which wasn't altogether wrong.
She was then taken as a slave to help pay off her life-debt, treated well enough, and raised and trained in her trades to help increase her value - though of course nobody would buy a slave that couldn't walk. Over time, she grew into an attractive young woman, and her rescuer's grandson took her as his concubine - and four years later, his wife after bearing him a daughter.
In the following decades, Kaldia found herself struck with wanderlust, roaming Golarion, attending classes at Absalom's prestigious Arcanamirium, and both learning and forgetting far more than most mortals in her life.
Eventually, however, she returned to her new family only to find it destroyed - her husband and child assassinated, and a dead drow in her greeting-room, bearing the sigil of House Misraria.
She has since fled to get lost in the capital of Qadira in the hopes that her anonymity would keep her safe while she rebuilds and gathers her resources for her eventual return to - and one-woman war on - the noble house that originally birthed her, her main goal being her own mother if she somehow still lives.
Her morality is complicated - Though in the past, she readily engaged in the flesh trade, she favored the indentured servitude model rather than outright chattel slavery, training slaves much the same way her fost father raised her: with a gentle touch, a guiding hand and the slave's own input in terms of career direction, establishing contracts for a cut of their profits once they earn their freedom through household tasks.
This doesn't mean that she entirely shunned chattel slavery, however - she readily snatched up those bearing obvious signs of abuse or neglect, paying a fair price, or even resorting to perfidy or even outright Enchantment in more egregious cases on the simple logic that a stolen slave is better than a dead one, and a broken slave is no better than a doll or construct.
With Qadira's recent abolition of slavery, however, Kaldia finds herself thinking back to "the good days", secretly fearing that she enjoyed the trade too much and that her ideals of rehabilitation were just self-delusion. She still operates under the title of "Flesh Merchant", she has simply expanded her list of goods and services to include companions of all varieties, as well as meats, spices, and leather goods.
