Creature Compendium
Sleepy Aura. Any creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of the Priodemon must make a Wisdom Saving throw DC 18 or or have the Incapacitated condition until the end of its next turn, at which point it must repeat the save. If the target fails the second save, the target has the Unconscious condition for 1 minute. The effect ends on a target if it takes damage or someone within 5 feet of it takes an action to shake it out of the spell’s effect. Creatures that don’t sleep, such as elves, or that have Immunity to the Exhaustion condition automatically succeed on saves against this spell.
Multiattack. The priodemon makes two bonewhip attacks.
Bonewhip Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 15 ft., one target. Hit: 13 (2d8 + 4) [2d8+4] bludgeoning damage.
Soul Essence. The priodemon tears the Essence out of a creature that is trapped in its stomach. It can launch this essence up to 100 feet. Any creature within a 20-foot radius where it targets must make a dexterity saving throw DC 16 or take 5d6 [5d6] necrotic damage. It can only do this if a creature is trapped in its Essence Jail ability.
Essence Jail. The priodemon’s belly is a prison cell formed by bone bars and filled with acids. As a bonus action the Priodemon can suck in one incapacitated creature within 30 feet into its belly. While a creature is within the priodemon's belly, it is restrained and has total cover against attacks and effects outside of the belly. At the start of each of the priodemon’s turns, all creatures within its belly take 6 (2d6) acid damage and the priodemon heals 5 hit points for each of those creatures. To escape from the priodemon’s belly, a creature must spend one action as it attempts to pull itself through the bars and must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving check to do so. On a success, the creature escapes from the belly, falling prone to any spot adjacent to the priodeom. If the priodemon dies, all creatures in the Jailer’s belly escape automatically.
Soulessence Retort. A creature that hits the priodemon with a melee attack must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 17 (5d6) necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much damage on a successful one.
Priodemons are large, rare, gluttonous demons driven by an insatiable, all-consuming voracity. Creatures who fall prey to their Sleepy Aura find themselves stuffed into the prison and used as a source of Essence.
