Exa came from a broken home, of misfits and criminals - learning to survive at any means necessary at a very early age. She stumbled upon the obscene habits of torturing small animals, until it evolved into killing a family friend. This act got the attention of the local thugs for hire.
 
While in the service of the murderers, they trained her, beat her, and used her for their own political gains - her natural talent in cold relentless manipulation become a tool the gang exploited at threat of Exa's life. Kill or be killed. Manipulate or be killed. Steal or be killed. Their abuse eventually broke Exa - forcing her to remove herself from the situation.
 
Over the period of 3 months, she slowly planted evidence of every member of the gang, on her marks. One by one the gang was arrested. She visited every member in prison, for the next two years, offering to help them escape, extracting information from them as to where they hid the cache she worked so hard to get them. Once she had this information, she smuggled crudely poisoned weapons into the prison, handed them off to each member, then on her way out, alerted the guard to what she saw in the cells. The gang was hung in the city square the next evening.
 
Her hunger started after that. She enjoyed twisting those that had wronged her so much... the power; the control. Knowing their every weakness, holding the information that would save them or doom them. She hungered to know everything about everyone around her. She began stalking and hunting random marks on the streets. Taking notes on who them met, how they walked, where they went. Soon, she knew the moments of everyone in Balmora, her new home. She finally felt safe... there was nothing she didn't see in the small town.
 
After a quiet decade of practicing her trade, manipulating her way to a very comfortable life, near Lake Amaya, she suddenly became fear-stricken. She feared she'd never have enough time, to study everyone - she'd die before she knew it all. It had become an obsession, she now traveled just to learn a new city. Traveled to stalk - to learn - to study.
 
That is when she sought out the gift.
 
She can't recall how it happened, only that the nightmares and the bloodlust started around her 170th birthday. And her stalking turned to hunting, hunting to murdering - as she started ranking her marks on attractiveness, and killing the best for subsistence, and the rest for sport. She continued to twist her way to a successful life, finding refugee in an abandoned castle, later forced into exile many years later, when her tactics became sloppy and noticeable - Since that time she has called an abandon cave her haven, somewhere beneath Kvatch, far away from her home in Morrowind.

During which time her coven had died off, one by one, turning their back on Exa, fleeing the safety of the Sanctuary and being murdered on the streets; Some even sought rare cures to the gift - those that did Exa has never heard from.
