While the others took care of their tasks, me and Orion set out to try and complete the task we were given. It's honestly a good thing we had to go to work immediately after the conversation we had, it kept my mind off of the past.
We figured out the location of the heaviest machinery on the ship, but it still left the question of how would a child get in there, if at all. We had a suspicion that he'd be interested in the place but no real confirmation. After a little exploration of our surroundings on the area closest to the engine, we found an odd seam on one of the walls. As it turns out, there's ventilation systems that require quite an opening to properly work. I imagine they use it for maintenance too. It was just small enough for a child to pass through, and we could see markings that indicated the little scamp had gone through there a few times before. Kind of hard not to leave markings when you're crawling like that, after all.
I was able to use one of the Jrigori's inate abilities to turn into a bat small enough to pass through. On the other side, I found a whole little workshop as well as part of the machinery, exposed and easily toyed with. There was a door on the other side that I was able to open, revealing a hidden passage for Orion. We were able to create a frame job by messing with the machinery and causing an alarm to trigger, but given that we left quite a mess we had to clean our tracks. Alas, the only thing that could be used like a rag was me in bat form. It wasn't precisely dignified but it worked. That said, while I imagine they won't be able to get any fingerprints from the oil markings, I'm sure they'll at least be able to figure out something unorthodox was used to clean up the mess.
Thankfully "A bat was used to clean up the evidence" sounds insane, so I think even if they put two and two together it'll sound ludicrous and make it easier to fast talk our way out of trouble. Either way, the important part was getting the kid in some trouble at the specified time, which we did. Any penalties we receive afterwards are not really important if we were found. At least, I hope so.
We were able to leave without being seen or notified, and made contact with Isaiah once more.
