Having found a seat at a table off to the side at the First Steps, Adalon and Ayrien ordered some food and drinks and and settled in to enjoy the meal and whatever show the tavern was putting up at this time of day, planning to lazily spend their afternoon before the appointed meeting.
They were barely able to finish their meal when a young woman, no more than twenty summers approach their table. "Lord Adalon Enre?" She asked with a soft but confident voice. Her long black hair and lightly ears betrayed a shadow elven ancestry, but her facial features were closer to those of a Kindaran.
"It is I" Adalon responded, barely needing to look up at the standing woman from his seated position "how can I help?"
"My name is Neia. I believe it is I who is to help you, the High Priestess told me I will be able to find you here" she stood at attention, her stance making it obvious she knows how to use the longsword at her side.
At the mention of the High Priestess, Adalon cocked his head sideways curiously "Oh? Please sit" He would gesture to one of the open chairs at their table and then to Ayrien "This is Ayrien, my partner, and you obviously already know my name. Tell me then Neia, why does the High Priestess think you can be of help to me?" As he spoke these words, a faint glow started in his chest and spread to his extremities, lingering in his eyes for a moment.
The spell took effect and the young woman understood that her ability to mislead was being restricted. She simply smiled, knowing she had no nefarious purpose. "When I was but a little girl, I had a vision of standing beside a half dragon warrior. I didn't understand it then, and it took many years of study and guidance to piece things together, but I came to understand that this half dragon warrior is you, although you look younger than in my vision, and that the lady of prophecy wants me to be at your side when the fate of the dragons will be decided, perhaps the fate of the world. Your involvement in the defense of the hatcheries was a sign that events are beginning to unfold, and the High Priestess told me it is time to meet my destiny" She would smile gently "and so here I am"
Adalon was silent for a while, contemplating what she had just told him before nodding slowly. "I would not be where I am today, had I not placed my trust in the lady of time and fate. I may have believed in coincidences once, but no longer. I was contemplating taking on a squire and suddenly you appear out of nowhere. I remember you from the temple, were you not a ward there? Refugee from the war?"
"I was, my Lord, yes" she would turn her head at the mention of a squire. "Squire my Lord?"
"Yes" He would nod "You clearly know how to use that sword at your hip, but your stance is a little off, you may have been taught the basics but there is still much you must learn. If you are to stand beside me as you said, I am not going to leave you without guidance and training opportunities."
"I did not presume to ask my Lord, it would be my honor" She spoke exuberantly, momentarily losing her composure.
Simply nodding, hiding a small smile, Adalon would reply "Gather your things from the temple and make your way to the Enre estate, tell them I sent you and you will be given a place to stay. Tomorrow we will make it official and your training will begin."
