You would not believe the trouble that these young men can get into. Oh my word. I am trying my hardest to keep them out of trouble and safe, but Lurra have mercy... It is almost as though they feed off of one another. We finally made it to the Crystal Forest, and Zin was able to make this wonderful dome for us to keep us safe. It was a bit cozy with us all huddled up in there, but it was nice to have a place to keep us warm and dry. It was quite interesting watching Zin almost pull bits and fragments of the various planes it seemed like to create the dome. I will have to ask her exactly how she did it...
Naturally we still stood watch , and when it came to be my turn, I met the most delightful pixie. She said that she remembered when we came through this way before. Do pixies typically live that long? Well, we sat and had some rose tea and she gave me a few flower petals to try one was quite lovely while the other unfortunately was toxic for non-fae folk, but I did add them and another blossom to the page as you can see.
Since before we left the tower, we have been experiencing the oddest weather. There was the odd storm at the tower, and the intense lightening has continued as we entered the forest. Well, you all remember how the forest reacts when you touch the crystals, right? The unpredictable wild magic surges? Well, towards the end of my watch, as I was beginning to cook breakfast for everyone, there was a tremendous CRACK of lightning and the surge that followed forced Duraz into a sphere of force energy! Now, don't you worry Rose, he was just fine. Though Seksgar and Blackthorne refused to believe that he would indeed be okay, and so they started pounding on the bubble containing Duraz. Don't worry Rose, Duraz was fine inside the sphere, but you know him. He couldn't just sit still and wait, but instead decided to try to DIG his way out. It obviously didn't have any effect on the sphere, though I'm sure it must have dented his shovel some. (This was when I called you Holly) Anyways, the sphere only lasted about a minute or so, but Duraz kept digging (even though my new pixie friend entreated him to stop) and he ended up still digging once the bubble faded and dug into the ground. I and the pixies had tried to advise everyone that most living things burrow in these woods, and of course Duraz just HAPPENED to dig into an Arclight Phoenix nest. Such a beautiful creature! And so very dangerous! Thankfully I was able to cast a blindness spell on it and we were able to get away before there were any serious injuries to our party. Though I do wish I would have been able to have saved the poor hatchling. There was just no time, and I fear it was outside of my expertise to do so, though I'm certain that if Myri was here she would have been able to do so with no issue.
I will continue to do my best to keep everyone safe... Making this journey is not the same without you two. I miss you both dearly.
