It's been quite a while. The only person in this group I can count on is Freya. Kemurial and Rory are alive because Freya and I are here. Their constant screw ups, and unwillingness to adjust, learn, adapt is going to get other killed. I don't know if they're being purposely obtuse, or just don't care.
Kemurial was appointed by the Iron, our benefactors as leader. He has yet to consistently take the lead and his heart is so filled with greed for magic it will be his end one day. Rory just charges into everything. Nothing has changed in the weeks we have been sent here to stop the Chaos Forces invasion.
I cannot deny we have been successful in many efforts up to this point. We have defeated the Terror, thanks to my leadership, a Gem Dragon, thanks to dumb luck, a Necromancer thanks to my skill set. Yet, in the end, every encounter is Kemurial being non committal, or just absent in the leadership area, or Freya and I having to bail out Rory who is on deaths doorstep for biting off more then he can chew.
We are in the city of Praag. The Chaos Forces on the doorstep of invasion. We have little time if any to obtain a magic item called The Rune Heart to activate city defense. We are in the catacombs of Praag looking for the Rune Heart. The Catacombs are filled with all sorts of Chaos. Skaven, Gnolls, Zealots, Gorgons, Undead.
We had just defeated a group of Chaos forces and Rory, once again has to stop and heal. I have already used the gift of Prayer of Healing, and now we have to take time, risk wandering forces so Rory can heal up. Luck is with us and we have no encounters, but there are many sarcophagi that have not been investigated. Experience has taught me these are filled with evil ready to attack one from behind. It is prudent to clear them out.
Kemurial comments on the loot that is usually within them as well. As I expected, each coffin had an undead gift for us. The loot Kemurial was so looking for was minimal, insignificant.
Moving on we come across a room with two large Hezrou Demons. Resistant to magic and immune to poison. We dispatched them quickly, but again, Rory took his fair share of damage. Instead of using the room layout to our advantage, he charged in and forced a chaotic battle. Freya was key, again, saving Rory for getting his ass handed to him.
Next was a room full of many Zealots. Freya's fireball wiped out most, but a few remained. Rory charged in again, SURPRISE! The casters peppering him with magic damage. We once again dispatched the pretty quickly. Both rooms had chests that we looted. The greed monster was in Kemurials eyes as he went from trunk to trunk searching. I searched a couple myself us to speed up the process.
Again, Rory needed to be healed and we had to take time to rest. These respites are killing out time scale. The hallway was littered with Blade traps. One of the Zealots tripped on on his attempted escape. Freya found and disarmed them.
The last room was the last straw. I opened the door and there, behind a table was a Vampire Spawn and his two enslaved apprentices. He was very convivial. He made us an offer, we allow him to feed without Vampirism being transferred for a magic item. Kemurials greed blinded him. Completely dismissing his Paladin nature, he bargained with an Evil Undead attempting to attain power, for his blood and a magic item. I wonder what the God who grants him his powers think of such a bargain based in greed.
Rory, to stupid to think for himself followed Kemurials lead. Freya participated as well, but this does not seem out of place for a Warlock/Sorcerer Drow. Of all of use, she is not out of character for such a bargain.
After all three participated in this process, they were moderately weakened and exhausted. Rory, again says he need to rest overnight.
Here we are, Chaos Forces on the doorstep. Our job, stop them within a closing window of time. And our leader gives up a day for a magic item as the forces begin their assault. Ive always hated Paladin Hypocrisy, but this guy takes the cake.
As we exit the catacombs to get a days rest, I lose it. I blow up at Kemurial and Rory. I just stand there yelling at them. Rory is just too stupid to realize what he had done and Kemurial has a new magic item so all if good. I quit the group and head back to the Iron to report that Kemurial has no care for the task asigned and is only in the market for magic, and is willing to sell his body for it, and Rory, although a formidable fighter, constantly puts everyone at risk with his charge in without concern for others.
Im just done with them. I hope Freya fairs well with these two who threaten every life that adventures with them.
