One for another. (???)

Dear Diary
 
So, apparently my mom had exchanged her soul for me. At least that's what Eric says when he showed me that note today. It was just a piece of paper with "One for another." written on it so how can he know? Nobody has seen my mom for almost 4 years now, she could be wherever.
 
That's not really the birthday present I had in mind... but I guess it's a big deal? Eric probably had a good reason to wait to tell me until I've turned 6 (everyone in the town refers to me as 12 though, I guess it's in human years???). Maybe I wouldn't have understood it if I was younger. But to be honest, I don't really understand it now, either. If all, I'm angry at mom to not stay with me. I can barely even remember her! And according to aunt Siggy she wasn't a good person, anyway. Very mean and violent and stupid. That doesn't really sound like someone I would want as a mom. Eric is so much better at this job, he cares for me and I can come to him when I have any problems. Eric is a great mom, even if I've never told him that. Because that sounds stupid.
 
Anyway, I think I'll keep this one short. I still have some birthday cake to eat and some homework to do (UGH, on my birthday??? AXEL, WHY?!).
