So as I wrote in the last entry, we passed by the two warships without engaging them or being engaged. But the Pirate ship is a very different story and outcome than we wanted. At first we thought the 9 foot tall Kobold was the Captain as got nearer.
Capt. Azuris calls for a meet as we near the other Pirate ship, and I go to the bow to be ready for anything. After being on a ship for three months I have gotten somewhat used to be a sailor now, and notice something odd. There is low number of crew on deck for such a large size ship. Only 9 Kobolds are deck. Vikeret apparently has noticed something under their ship, it is another ship underwater.
The 9 foot Kobold calls back to us to come aboard, so Capt. Azuris calls for Vikeret, Doots, and myself to come with him. Our crew of Trolls grabs the gangplank and hooks the two ships together. As we are getting ready to cross, Doots sense unease or a possible trap, so I am alert for anything. As we board the other Pirate ship the 9 foot Kobold says their Captain does not like light, and is waiting in the Captain's room for us. As the door opens an odd feeling washes over me, and I can see through the illusion that was there. Inside are 30 to 40 Thrycrene all very still, and it seems they do not know that we all know they are there. Behind the desk is the Captain's chair turned away. Doots and I stay outside of the Captain's room as Capt. Azuris and Vikeret go inside for discussion of joining together. The Kobolds on the deck are all acting weird and so Doots starts to play a sea shanty. A few minutes later, I hear Capt. Azuris yell for me to get a barrel of booze, and I bang twice on the door as a reply. Walking to the edge of the gang plank I yell over for a Troll to get a 10 gallon barrel of booze for the Captain. He returns all bruised, I bet from the Quarter Master, with the barrel and hands it over to me. As I go to grab the barrel, I whisper to him to have the crew be ready for a possible fight.
I go the doors of the other Pirate Captain's room and kick it twice. Vikeret opens the door and I put the barrel on the ground inside for him, and as he closes the door I keep it slightly ajar. As the door was opened for me, I was able to see the other Pirate Captain, a one-eyed, pale Thrycrene. Apparently the Captains are unable to come to an agreement and a fight breaks out.
As I am facing the Kobolds on the deck I roar, which gets everyone's attention, but none seem intimidated by it. A trance seems to come over me as I brandish my shield and sword, pouncing through the air at the nearest Kobold. As I fly through the air, in a monotone voice I say, "This Instructable will teach you the very basics of hand Embroidery." As I land on the Kobold I double rake him with my hind claws, killing him instantly. All the other Kobolds have falling into a sleeping trance and fallen to the deck. Seeing them no longer as hostile combatants in my trance state, I calmly walk to the Captain's doors and rip them off their hinges. Seeing the pale Thrycrene Captain in his chair, I barely take note of him being on fire. I walk up to the Pale Captain, swing my sword, and remove one of his arms.
Krump, our First-mate, casts a fireball at the barrel of booze, missing it thankfully. But the booze still lights up and blows up the entire room. I am just able to rip a hole in the wall of the back of the Captain's room and dive into the waters below. as I swim back to the surface of the water, the ship that was below the Pirate ship comes up out of the water in-front of me. I swim to it climbing to the deck and check for any hostiles and see none. A wave of exhaustion comes over me as I sheath my weapon and collapse to the deck, lying down and looking up to the sky. I start to laugh about the first fight I have had with the Kryptic Cabal and come to realize that as there is no one onboard this ship, it is mine and I am now a Captain.
As I feel my strength returning, I gather my thoughts and stand up, walking to the bow of this new ship I call for Capt. Azuris. "Captain Azuris, I Captain Wara, have a ship to sell you. What say you?" His reply is, "You aint no Captain. That is the spoils of the battle we just had and as such, belongs to us all." Well that sucked, "BUGGER IT."
Vikeret comes over to start searching the ship and I join in. Vikeret goes to the hold of the new ship as I go to the Captain's quarters. I am able to find 4 books of possible interest to some, a magical, masterwork leather armor with some strange runes on it, and a ship in a bottle. There is also a mounted head of a white Lion type creature, that I remove from the wall and give a burial at sea. After which, I go to find Vikeret and I ask him to inspect the bottle and the armor.
It seems the bottle has some magic placed on it and is of high value, and the ship is an airship. The Captain will like this.
The armor has a curse on it of projectile attraction, the First-mate might like this.
As Capt. Azuris finishes his talks with the remaining Kobolds to crew the new ship, the entire crew starts to gather materials from the hold and complete any repairs needed. The first ship we boarded was called The Single Blade, and the second ship is named Clack's Heart. We decided to keep the Clack's Heart and strip The Single Blade for parts. As everyone is going about the job assigned to them, I find the First-mate and give him the armor. He seems very pleased with this. I then find the Captain to give him the ship in a bottle. After some small talk the Captain yells, "Krump, where in the nine hells are you?" we all start to look for him below deck. Spotting him trying to open the bottle, I find a wooden spoon, as the Captain yells at him to stop that and give the bottle back. After convincing Krump to return the bottle, I whisper to the Captain to watch the following. I throw the spoon wide of Krump and the spoon bounces off the wall and turns in mid air to straight fro Krump, hitting him in the back. "Do you mean harm to my First-mate, or any other of the crew, Wara?" "No Captain. I have no malice or wishes of harm fro any of the crew. I gave the armor to the First-mate thinking it would be a boon for him." "You better go tell him what the armor does, NOW."
After the talk I had with Capt. Azuris, I go to find Krump and tell him of the special ability the armor has. When I am done he looks at me weird as if he is talking to me but not saying a word. So I go back below decks and continue to help the crew prep the two ships for sailing.
