Personal history
Born to the Orion race Valla was born to a companion, or rather a slave as most of her space fairing race was. As a slave her life was full of hardships and demands of her masters. Her life was nothing more than the expectation to serve and obey. She was trained to become a companion. She was to become the wife of the highest bidder and to serve him faithfully. Once she came of age in her teens she was auctioned off to a wealthy merchant, never again to see her family.
She was taken to the one of the largest spaceships she had ever seen. The shear amount of cargo and goods on the ship was more than she had ever seen in her entire lifetime. The day after leaving port she was wed to the merchant, John Galt, in a short ceremony becoming his twelfth wife. She had never seen such luxury and splendid treats in her life. The banquet hall was full of so much food and it could have feed her, her family and community for years yet only so few were there to eat it and she watched it go to waste. It sickened her. How could some live so lavishly while her and the others were barely feed any scraps or breadcrumbs.
It was then that the realization that she had always know stood up and kicked her in the gut. She was trained to become the wife of someone wealthy only to serve them while other were to suffer due to their greed and selfishness. Her family would continue to suffer starve and die when all this was here being wasted on them, on her. It made her sick and the rage that was forced down, beaten down by her masters exploded.
That night was to be her wedding night and the merchant was excited to add a new wife to his collection. Unknown to the crew a band of pirates were making their way to their ship. They boarded the ship without resistance only to find waiting for them a Valla, blade in one hand and the head of John Galt in the other. Most of the ship’s crew was made up of slaves and once Valla disabled the slave collars, they quickly took the ship. This day she learned three valuable lesson. The first was that life is unfair and that often those with freedom, wealth, power, and luxury do not deserve or abuse it and therefore for one to obtain freedom you must take it.
The second lesson she learned stared her in the face as she now stood before the band of pirates. Her second lesson learned was that once you have freedom you will have to fight for it to hold it otherwise the weak will inevitably perish.
“This ship, the crew, and everything on it is mine.” She throws the head towards the captain. “Here is the John Galt as proof.”
The pirate captain asks, “And who is John Galt?”
Valla “The one I liberated all this…” she motions to everything “from. Now the question is are you here to try and take everything from me… or are you here from me to take everything from you?
The captain unimpressed accepted the challenge believing it would be easy to take Valla’s head being 3 times her size. Though the captain was much stronger than Valla she was much nimbler and more durable. As the fight progressed the captain became slower and slower until finally, with a flash he became headless. Valla learned of her third lesson that day. That loyalty is fickle and changes as easily as does the one in charge can. Loyalty follows the strong. Impressed by her fight most of the pirate crew accepted Valla as their new captain.
Valla took the hulking merchant ship and cargo to an unnamed planet in the outskirts of known space, outside any jurisdictions. Using the ship as building materials she established a colony and naming it No Where. She took command of the pirate ship and renamed it to Firefly, because it reminded her of the fireflies from home, and renamed her crew to the Reavers, finding it appropriate that they intended to deprive, rend and tear away the material wealth and possessions of the rich, totalitarian governments , and slave traders.
The Firefly was originally a cargo ship turned smuggler ship turned to pirate ship. Its armament and defenses were not the greatest but the thrusters on the ship are unique in and are capable of unusual flight giving it a tremendous advantage in mobility. The cargo hold is large enough to hold about 4 small ships.
The Reavers prey of choice was other wealthy merchants or government ships. Often, they would raid ships or outposts and other lightly defended locations on the outskirts of the control of the other governments liberating goods, property and slaves brining them back No Where. With each conquest the city and Populus grew. The city began to attract traders, pirates, bounty hunters and now has become a popular trade port city. The other wives of John Galt had been integral in maintain and growing the city. Therefore, she decided that she would create a council of the 11 wives, or rather widows of John Galt, leave in charge of the city, the Council of Widows.
Seeker greater thrills Valla began taking on bounties. Over the years she became notorious as both a pirate and a bounty hunter.
