Orin is a stout Halfling, but his years as a smith have certainly kept him from getting pudgy. He's beginning to age, but is adamant that he is young until the day he hits 100. His skin is often smudged with dirt and soot. He wears thick gloves that extend up to his elbow, so he's always ready to scrounge around for materials. He often has a large smile peeking out from under his burly mustache.

"Orin was a smith in a guild, and he put a GREAT deal of pride (perhaps too much pride) into his works. He always wished he had better accommodations for ""a smith of his caliber"" as he would put it, but he was happy that he was at least respected by his fellow guild members. The great betrayal, and the source of his resentment toward his old guild, was when he discovered that his works were not being revered as master works, but instead being sold in bulk with the weapons forged by the other smiths. This is why he would abandon his guild, travel to a new land of opportunity, and create his own guild; with only the best materials and the finest craftsmanship.

I think this would be a good motivation for him to adventure and be a bit of a klepto: to find the best materials, and to keep up his practice and ""amaze"" local smiths. Now whether or not his skills are actually as good as he thinks they are could be debated. I think keeping him as a friendly people-person is something I want to do, but I want him to be more flawed in his pride. It could end up being a good source of comedic moments or even character growth; realizing he isn't as good as he thought and that might reinvigorate him to keep studying harder, etc."
