I grew up in a family of merchants and we enjoyed a relatively successful and comfortable lifestyle.
However, many within the merchant and trade profession are slaves to greed. A larger, more successful, trade company used their influence and power to ruin my families business and forcefully absorbed it.
Poor and desparate, I decided to turn to a life of thievery to provide for my family. Rival trade companies were my main target and I would start small - swiping goods from their vendors before progressing to ambushing their trade caravans.
However, my main target in site was the large business that ruined my family. In order to bring them down I knew that required additional resources - resources I did not have. So, I sought out the Thieves Guild.
I knew they wouldn't take any petty thief so I sought to impress them. Pull of a job that would make certain the guild would welcome me. However, it is on this job where I encounted the Deck of Many Things. "This is it" I thought, this will hold the power for me to take down those who wronged my family.
With my utter horror, I drew the Rogue card. "That's okay" I thought, if anyone comes for me I'll be prepared. My recent life of thievery has tought my how to fend for myself so I could handle what comes my way.
What originated as determination morphed to suspicion, then doubt, then outwright paranoia - jumping at shadows, glancing over my shoulder, not trusting anyone. Turning away from my family, from a combination of bringing danger upon them and paranoia that one of them could attack me at any time, I left.
