Krisdi had a normal childhood, surprisingly enough. She grew up in Borcrus in a small village simply known as Snowdrift. Nestled in the Frobek Forest, her village was relatively safe from the regular attacks of the undead. The forest always had a way of pushing back the darkness. It's probably why most of her kind rarely left.
Krisdi, on the other hand, had an adventurous spirit. She would often find herself seeing how close to the edge of the wood she could get before someone tried to stop her. This was difficult in her youth but as she grew the watchful eyes of the villagers were preoccupied with the younger generation. She and three of her friends traveled as far as they could one day. Making it to the very edge where the trees became sparse. The sight of the endless tundra excited Krisdi but frightened her friends.
Against her friend's constant nagging to head back, Krisdi walked out into the open snow. It was a clear and beautiful day. The only thing she could hear was her quickened breath as she gazed out into the distance. This is probably one of the reasons she didn't hear the beast attack. A large black bear descended on one of her friends. Taking her to the ground quickly. The onslaught was brutal and vicious. Krisdi froze for a moment as she watched the carnage. Her other friend did her best to free her friend but was rewarded with a gash across the knee and quickly crumpled to the ground.
At that moment Krisdi charged. She grabbed a low hanging branch and ripped it from a tree. With her makeshift club, she began to beat down again and again on the beast. This did little but piss it off. Krisdi quickly learned the difference that size can make as the creature used its full weight to slam her into the ground. If not for the branch blocking the jaws of the creature she would have been killed in seconds. Even then, moments from death, Krisdi did not panic. She tried kneeing the creature in the sides and pushing against the branch with all her might. She even headbutted the creature but to no avail. It wasn't until something slammed into the bear's side did the beast take a step back.
What Krisdi saw after being freed from the bear surprised her. A snow-white boar had slammed into the bear, cutting deep into its flesh with its tusks. It faced off against the bear. One bloody dusk staining the white snow below. It prepared to charge. Krisdi did not get the chance to see which of the two creatures walked away victorious. Her friend pulled her away so that they could get the injured back to safety. She often thinks back to that moment. Regretting that she didn't stay to experience it.
She was scolded of course but none of that mattered anymore. She quickly fashioned herself a weapon made of wood and prepared to leave her village. It took her a year to wait for a time safe enough to travel but eventually, the time came. She was given no blessing and cursed for abandoning her tribe to seek such a thing as violence but she did not care. Krisdi left that day and she hadn't been back since.
