As a young man Garroway was obsessed with the sea. He started sailing when he was 16 as a member of the Beronan navy His time there was some of the happier but, it was short lived as when teh work dried up there was not much people in his position could do so he turned to stealing and piracy.

As a pirate Garroway met the love of his life a woman names Drusila. He with his wife fathered two children in the form of Luis and Jessica. His two children brought him much joy but, he had to keep making money and had to leave. After he left Drusila died. Jessica and Luis blamed him for their mothers death and he felt he had no ties to the place. He started to drink and became obsessed with this idea of a perfect world in which Drusila didn't have to die, in which his family didn't hate him.

He went out to see earning the name "the Iron Hull" on account of his massive iron warship. He also drew the attention of Xavierra Narshe and the cult of shadows. He was soon recruited among their ranks.

The Boner Squad first met Garroway when they were with Jessica and they were attacked by the Leviathan. He also tormented them when they found the Kingsbalde of Berona. Garroway engaged the team but, defeated them there.

They met him for the last time in the temple of love in Ishtar where Nira polymorphed him and threw him into one of the palaces traps killing him.
