Engineer, maths prodigy and aspiring mage, Wexley Lancaster is the of The Primewater Pleasure, the pleasure yacht owned by councillor Gellan Primewater.
It is Wexley's machinations that allow the Pleasure to be sailed with a minimal crew. The whirring clockwork gears and leather straps, the wheels and the rods that drive the sails, capstan and rudder were all his design.
Wexley considers himself to be a mage, in the mould of the great sorcerers of the past, though in reality he has not demonstrated any great skill in the art. He is not taken completely seriously when it comes down to magical matters.
He now lives on the ship, doing research in his cabin.
Wexley wears scruffy blue wizard robes as well as a wizard hat with white stars on it. He looks like a painting from a child's book about the wizards of old (indeed such a book serves as his inspiration).
Overweight and not particularly dextrous, Wexley takes affront easily if his magical skills are questioned. His demeanour in general is not pleasant. Wexley is not a people person.
Wexley may consider himself to be heir apparent to the ancient powers of mages, but no-one else does. Rather his greatest achievement is the astonishing engine room of The Primewater Pleasure, an astonishing place of gears and wheels that belies explanation.
