Dimsum was a gnomish transporter of goods in Althena. He originally hails from the Vendish Underdark, but traveled to Faartz on Althena with his parents to participate in the final mining rush when a new vein of Mithral was discovered. As Mithral became exhausted at last, Dimsum became a hauler and transporter for the Gnomish Settlement to the rest of Althena.

After running into the party and getting some shady advice, he started on a criminal path in earnest, selling part of the wares he's supposed to transport. Dimsum had already dabbled in petty theft before.

He lifted a blade that was forged in the Gnomish Settlement and was earmarked for a certain elf, Edyrm Holadi. In Clove, he joined the party and they took a ship that unbeknownst to them belonged to the elf who had purchased the blade. Dimsum intended to sell the intricate looking weapon in Clove and finally make enough to flee the island and make something of himself. He knew that he was meant to bring the blade to a certain building in Clove, however, where the Edyrm Holadi would be waiting for it.

The blade had a secret — the materials it was forged from included elements that were formed eons ago and could unlock the mysteries of the planes. But a strange force—an Entity—shares a connection with this blade, and the wielder of the blade is at risk of falling into the influence of this force.

Dimsum was severely injured during the taking of Zoran Tross'' warship and fell overboard. This triggered an interaction with the Entity, allowing him to survive and be washed ashore again. He now was, for all intents and purposes, a warlock with a patron.
