Salvinina (Vin/Vinia )is a Water Genasi from a swamp settlement called Marais Des Morts located in The Mere of Dead Men. Known as Vin or Vinny, they present in a very androgynous fashion.

Family

Vin was raised by their mother, a wood-elf named Antoinette Bourreau, their grandmother Madam and their uncle Jean-Baptise Bourreau. They are close to their family and love them dearly.

Mortuary Services in the Mere

They have lived their life in service of their family's mortuary service. They performed death rites for fresh corpses on the Mere.

The Mere itself was full of trees, vines, quicksand, and hidden islands, and it was generally covered in fog, making visibility very poor. The bones of fallen creatures were clearly visible throughout the Mere. The water was deep enough that it could be navigated on a flat-bottomed boat, but the dark water and hidden obstructions made that choice dangerous.

After the Time of Troubles and the death of Myrkul (1358 DR), the taint of the dead god infected the remains of the dead in the Mere, causing them to turn into undead ghouls, skeletons, and zombies that attacked travelers on sight.

Mortuary services and proper death rites was incredibly important to the inhabitants of the Mere, lest the undead would rise again.
