Bastion
Finley M. Lucky was born for the sea. A prodigy of the Stormtide Ascetics, he was trained by the enigmatic Master Rordan Tideborn, a monk who once ruled the waves as a pirate before seeking enlightenment. The Ascetics believed in balance—harnessing the serenity of the ocean’s depths and the chaos of its storms to master their martial arts.
But Finley was never satisfied with balance.
His master once told him:
"There are those who float, those who sink, and those who command the tide. Be careful which you choose to be."
Finley chose the tide.
Tempted by adventure, power, and the thrill of conquest, he betrayed his master and the Ascetics, aligning himself with the feared pirate fleet The Red Maelstrom. As first mate, he led a mutiny against Captain Daggerhand Voss, believing himself the rightful heir to the sea. He took the captain’s ship and men, renaming them The Stormborn Reavers, and sailed under his own flag.
He burned cities, raided fleets, and carved his name into the annals of the Karkos Ocean—until his hubris led him too far.
A battle with another pirate crew ended in disaster—Madelynn One-Leg’s ship lay in ruins, her leg taken by his cannons, and both captains found themselves shackled in Amara’s Seat.
But fate is never done with men like Finley.
Escaping alongside Madelynn and Jimmy, a prisoner he fell for instantly, he now seeks to rebuild what was lost.
But more than that—he believes he can return to the Stormtide Ascetics, reclaim his honor, and prove himself worthy again. The only way? By training a student who surpasses him.
But deep down, another thought lingers in his heart…
Why should I return as a servant, when I could return as a king?
