I'm getting better at this. It feels right to record my days, terrible as I am with my handwriting. If my younger self were to look at me now, writing with a book full of paper, her eyes would sparkle like the stars. She'd say I'm rich. I still feel like I'm rich, even if I only have my equipment...
100 coins for the armor was nice, but we shouldn’t have lied to the shopkeeper. I'm not nearly as street-savvy as some of my fellows, but I fail to see how deception would have protected him. His hypothesis was reasonable. Even if he were to be under further threats from the Syndicate, he deserved to know something of what happened. I plan to apologize to him when we can return, and if he is willing, maybe I can help him in his store for a time…
Guilty as I am, he's definitely not my first choice of employers. If anything else happens in the store, I can see no other result than me being accused, or worse, one of my companions. But maybe I can give him some perspective. Maybe he won’t be so quick to accuse a passerby next time. I can only hope.
Speaking of hope…I’m getting happier and happier about the people I’ve wound up with. At a glance, these are sensible and well-to-do folk, who have not yet been hardened by the cruelties of this terrible system. I was prepared to aid the Tiefling man alone. And to my utter surprise, everyone leaped into action, even Harin…! It was similar for the man impaled by spears. I’m so glad we could free him from his torment, even if it could have only ended in his death.
If only death did not so often take the place of freedom. More and more, I feel I am the exception to that rule, undeserving as I am. But I cannot put this chance to waste. For everyone I left behind, I must grow stronger...

03:24 pm - 06.10.2025This is going far beyond a simple reconnaissance mission. I knew I would find myself in matters of this sort, but nothing so soon. We are under the eyes of the Inquisition, now. Worse, we are working with them. Just a few months on my own, and in a single night, my will has been bound again... Our new friend is disturbing to me. There is more depth to him than that of simple hatred, and that is something I have come to recognize easily. That gives me little comfort. There is a clear conflict within him, but at the end of the day, he is a man of the Empire. He can pity me all he likes. A deaf ear is a crime all its own. The path ahead is dark, and may grow darker yet. Every moment I spend thinking on the future, the acid in my veins turns me sicker and sicker. How do I stop this worrying? How do I take what has come to me, despite my fear? Give me strength, Ikko. Give me the strength to see this through. I pray, deeply, that I will not need it.
