Nalen had a Tough Childhood growing up. His father died when he was young, and then not long after his mother married James Faust, a sinister man who would have prefered Nalen never existed. Then, when his mother died of a drug overdose under questionable circumstances (in Nalen's mind), his step-father took custody of him, forcing Nalen to sell drugs.
 
Needless to say, the moment Nalen was old enough to leave, he did. Leaving his past life behind, Nalen pursued a career as a supernatural author. His first few works were nothing special, with most publishers not even bothering with a glance at his manuscripts.
 
That was until he started seeing them. At first he thought he was daydreaming or just seeing things, but eventually, Nalen realised that he could see ghosts. It didn't stop there, as he soon realised he could see and manipulate The Dreamtime as he called it. Curious, Nalen started to investigate what he saw and use it as material for his stories. It was a hit. Soon enough Nalen's books were well known within urban fantasy book circles.
 
As time went on, Nalen continued to investigate these supernatural cases. That is where he met his future Partner in Crime, Sam Gat. Unfortunately, it was around this time he would also garner the attention of a Ghost Mentor that seemed to know more about Nalen that he did.
 
This continued until Nalen, now a member of the crew, was drawn into conflict with the Blade of Kronos. After entering the pocket reality within the blade, the team freed the titan Kronos, with Aiden Harrington drawing the Mythos into himself. This triggered the collapse of the pocket reality, and Nalen forced the others back to realspace while he was trapped in the crumbling realm. What seemed like ten minutes for those outside the blade was two long years for the author, and when he finally freed himself, he was a changed man.
 
No longer haunted by the dead, he was a Freeroaming Warden on a Path of Redemption to seal away the monsters that escaped the blade. It was also revealed that Ghost Mentor had also been trapped in the blade, along with his family, and that the 'ghost' was actually a projection of his psyche. Now Professor Raegan uses his knowledge to aid Nalen in his hunt.
