After the disappearance of his parents, Clementine's sister Elaine fell ill and was in need of a gill transplant. Just as things were looking up, a member of the Mafia purchased a pair of gills, that should've rightfully gone to Elaine, to continue his smoking habit. When he got lucky escorting a client away from a drive-by shooting during his day job as a chauffeur, he was offered a night job as a bouncer at a gang affiliated nightclub in order to help pay his sister's hospital bills. There, Clementine learned to fight from one of the other bouncers. Overworked and spiraling into despair at the ever extending time estimated before they found a suitable transplant for his sister, Clementine pushed on, visiting her with a smile and telling her things would be alright, and to hang on just a little while longer. Unfortunately, there just wasn't enough time. Elaine died in the hospital waiting on a replacement for her failing respiratory system. Furious about the system that had failed them, Clementine quit his job and used his connections to gather information about the whereabouts of this Mafioso who had stolen his sister's chance at life. He found him and beat him to death. While the adrenaline and rage helped quell the pain for a moment, the silence of what he had done began to haunt Clem. Glancing at the bashed-in skull of the man on the floor behind him, he clenched his bloody fists and began a crusade of violence that would numb the pain. Mafia affiliated, gang affiliated, even just petty criminals; Clementine hunted down anyone he could justify killing. He rarely escaped these massacres unscathed, but would patch himself up best he could, sometimes receiving healing from a worried member of the church. Held together by magic, some wire and thread, he continued his unrelenting quest. Stopping even for a moment meant confronting his guilt and despair. His loathing for himself was only overshadowed by his hatred for the rest of the world. He would enter each fight expecting it to be his last. But his rage seemed to endure, refusing to give into death. More than a few times, he felt he would pass into nothingness, only for his knuckles to whiten against the shaft of his maul for one more blow. The screams of his victims were so loud they drowned out Clem's own cries. He could continue on like this. As he was hunting some pirate he caught wind of doing shady business in the city, he saw something he never could've expected. A man depositing the remains of his parents, their dead bodies torn apart and put back together in various disturbing ways. The sight horrified Clementine. He immediately flew into a rage to save his mind, attacking the man. The stranger fled in a haste, but not before exchanging blows with Clem and leaving him injured and poisoned. A new vindictiveness fueled his rage, a berserk frenzy he didn't even know he was capable of mustering. He vowed to chase this monster to the ends of the earth. Unable to follow the fiend further before tending to his wounds, he returned to bury his parents. He unceremoniously put them in the ground with shaky hands on the edge of the city. Heading to the shell of his broken down car, he discovered the city celebrating. "The White Hawk was here and life in Megacarpolis can finally start to get better," they said. Ridiculous. Things never get better, especially not for Clem. He quickly grew furious with their celebrations. Nothing in this world is worth celebrating, there is only pain, then death. If the city wants to celebrate, Clementine will celebrate with them... the only way he knows how.
