Personal history
The Tale of Altarius, as relayed by Othar, son of Spinebreaker:
Show spoiler
"Ah, so you wish to know the tale of my land? Well, as with all good things we must start where it all began. This is how my mother told the tale. Is it true? That is for you to decide.
"My planet was known by the name Altarius, but only by the humans. Each race had its own name but we all knew the tale of Al'tar'rimi'us and his brother Zal'da'kan. Two forces born of the mother sun Zal'da and father moon Al'tar. As the mother gives life to the world and the father protects all during the night, Al'tar'rimi'us gave color to the light of the world making all under it active and happy. But Zal'da'kan like the father gave those of his domain strength and the ability to protect even in such darkness as his father resides over.
"Eventually, as one can expect, the two brothers had to establish who was stronger. In the fervor of the battle the brother of light struck his brother dead and in his shame hid the body in our planet. This is where Mount Zal'da'kan comes from, its shape that of a draconic face emerging from the ground mouth agape. From his fallen brother's dead mouth sprang all of monsterkind. Dragons, dark fey, werewolves and vampires and the rest. Even to monsters and mortals this is how we became what we are.
"I will speak more later but now I am sad at thinking of what I have lost…"
"So you still wish to know more of my land? Ah, fine. Where did I leave off? Oh yes…
"So after his brother's accidental death in their sparring match and burial in my planet, thereafter Al'tar'rimi'us was questioned by Mother Zal'da and Father Al'tar as to where Zal'da'kan was. Fearing his parents' wrath he said to his parents he knew not the place of his brother, and in a fearful fit his mother ran off into the void, looking for her child. Her tears as she looked for her lost child became the stars, but after her long search she came back to where she left her husband and remaining son.
"There she found only her husband's sleeping husk, our moon, and her remaining child wounded and now buried in eternal slumber inside the grave of her other son as well, our planet. Thus our hollow core of a planet was born… Hmmm? Most places don't have a sun inside a hollow planet? Ah, then my land must have been something special… Either way at such a sight Mother Sun collapsed into her own sad slumber. She yet keeps us alive as the life giver even in her sleep, as the rest also look after us in their own slumber as gods of their own domains.
The point of contention between all on my world was: What happened after Mother Sun left? My people say that come the first night, the Father Moon found his son's crime crudely buried, and in his attempt to apprehend him they fought once more to their dooms, as seems to be the gods' fates. The followers of Al'tar'rimi'us say the Father Moon in his wrath wished to destroy our world and show the crimes of his son, who seeing our lives as greater than theirs fought to defend us despite his past wrongs. I say it is likely we will never know past this child's tale..."
Othar was the archvillain of his own world's story, and a victorious archvillain at that. His conquering victory and all he had gained were torn away when Renedge impacted and consumed his planet like it has so many others. His homeland became another continent and his people were scattered or killed.
Personality
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Othar is skilled in diplomacy. He learned it from his mother. It helps him maintain his reputation for affability; it's hard to hate someone who is being unfailingly polite and respectful, no matter how vaguely concerning their intentions may be.
Likes & Dislikes
He hates Renedge. Not its people, but the planet itself. It took his friends, his people, his home, and his victory. And that he will not forgive.
