Appearance
Physical Description
Athletic build, standing at 5'2 with a surprisingly appealing exterior, Kilo maintains the stock biomorphism that K-types were created with over extensive modification. she'd almost pass as human if not for a few distinctly artificial features.
Body Features
Kilo's skin is segmented into a variety of angular panels with a combination of skin and flexible dermal armor. They can be disconnected for maintenance if necessary.
There are larger gaps in the more biomorphic skin, with a notable set being behind her right ear for interfacing with a computer implant, a collection of ports on the outer right thigh for an onboard autoinjector, a variety of integrated displays for biomonitor readouts, and structural mounting points for external equipment.
Facial Features
Kilo's face is bisected by a seam, with a larger structural point over the bridge of the nose. Many K-types have something similar.
Kilo also a visible change in her eyes from standard humanity, The pupils have a slight glint in them which is absent in purely organic eyes or fully artificial optics. Some allege the glint changes color.
Identifying Characteristics
Kilo has a small identifying tattoo, a red diamond star shape above her right eye originally intended as a quick way to tell Schwalben apart.
Physical quirks
Kilo, like all k-types, has a highly variable body temperature depending on physical exertion. This ranges from noticeably below human norms when inactive all the way up to scalding hot when pushed to the breaking point (low FP). Most of the time she can maintain a biomorphic equilibrium, but this can change quickly. Caution is advised during and after high-stress situations.
Apparel & Accessories
Kilo always wears a modified version of an old standard issue powered uniform. She's replaced just about every internal subsystem with updated military-grade components and a variety of slight visual alterations (namely the removal of all but one EMMA flag) The surface can change color, but Kilo usually keeps it in an old dress uniform protocol; black with high-visibility red accents. While usually worn open and inactive, the suit can activate and convert to a vacuum-capable form of powered armor with a full suite of support systems.
Special abilities
Kilo moves Exceptionally quickly as a Schwaben, This can be unsettling for someone used to a more human timescale. This means that her movements can appear abrupt, disjointed, hard to follow, or seemingly impossible from an outside perspective. This can hamper communication between Kilo and others as word pacing and social conventions about pacing can be hard for her to follow.
Kilo also does not require sleep, and given a large enough workflow, can maintain her superhuman pace for multiple days at a time.
Mentality
Personal history
Kilo was created in Hamburg, Germany in 2038 as part of the Salvager scouting program. She was an early model, produced within the first year of her type's introduction, and as such, watched as many of her peers succumbed to untested methods and unresolved flaws. She spent her first 8 years in Hamburg in an intensive training regimen that pushed her cognitive hardware to its very limit before being assigned to the Hussar.
The voyage lasted 135 years (both observed and relative) and Kilo emerged a very different person than when she had embarked. Even among her peers, she was markedly different, having developed a sense of introspection, curiosity, exploration and philosophical thinking while also becoming very insular and untrusting of even her fellow Schwalben.
When public sentiment turned against K-types, Kilo had a harder time than most. Her removal from the innate social support of her crew and lack of friends meant that she had to make her own way. And there were precious few options for her. She eventually found a job as a repair technician in Manfred Wolfgang Spaceport, but this was barely enough to make ends meet.
She spent this time combining her original education with her newfound perspective to become exceptionally skilled at finding outside-the-box solutions to technological problems, but her ambitions lay elsewhere.
When she learned of a Salvager class vessel preparing to make a voyage to the Shadowfell, Kilo jumped at the opportunity, managing to land a position as second engineer.
Education
Kilo's education consisted of a comprehensive regimen of downloaded and practiced skills learned over an 8 year period. She has an in-depth understanding of both physical and digital engineering principles and can repair every system of a Salvager in her sleep... if she slept. Her formalized education did not include considerations for any other aspect of knowledge, being primarily concerned with producing a batch of engineers and not killing them via neural overload. Kilo and her peers have had to expand their education on their own time since the Exodus, either through a collection of risky brain chip systems or more traditional means.
