Toga is from the island of Yud'dha, a former navy prison usurped by its prisoners. It's extremely defensive positioning led it to be nearly impossible for the Navy to retake. They gave up. The lawlessness that ensued on Yud'dha was next to none. Fight rings and other dens of sin sprung up all over the island. Toga was the result of such rings of hate and combat. He grew up with the lone support of his brother in arms, Derik, another boy thrown into the life of gladiatorial combat at a young age. Though Toga had spirit, he never could best his elder. He and Derik fought many times, Toga learning and improving with each bout. He grew to love to process. Fight, learn, grow, repeat. Inevitably, one of those fights, Toga was bound to win. But the day came all too soon. Derik was distracted, staring off into space between blocks and punches. Toga caught him off balance and to the ground he fell. Toga won, but this wasn't the long awaited victory he had wanted. This was a hollow win. Derik was not the infallible combatant he normally was. Toga shouts at the weary-eyed Derik, furious about him not trying. Why spar if they aren't going to give it their all. Derik dismisses him and walks away, leaving an unsatisfied Toga behind. The next day Derik is gone without a trace.
