'Alek Fireborn' was born to Decius 'Fireborn', a Cheliaxian noble scholar, and Vieryl Glannath, a Yin Sarian traitor near Farsidedocks in Hartan.
 
The 'Fireborn' family heads Cadius Thrune's Foreign Research Division, which is responsible taking foreign developments in magic and technology using them to strengthen Cadius Thrunes's military and economic might. Decius was not the head of said family, but was still afforded rank and land provided he maintained his responsibilities. These included interrogating a Yin Sarian prisoner willing to bargain away state secrets for her safety, or perhaps she was giving them away out of spite.
 
One thing led to another and a half elf soon entered the scene making an already dangerous relationship deadly.
 
As Alek grew, the scorn his family attracted became more and more evident. What few social events he attended were marked with insult and occasional injury, leading his father to become reclusive and his mother to start carrying more weapons.
 
When Alek was nineteen, assassins finally struck the house, two things saved his life, that not all of the assassin's were on the same team, and that neither party wanted the other to know they were there.
 
By luck, Alek survived the bloodbath by escaping out a window of the burning library and leaving the corpses of his parents behind.
 
Since then Alek has survived by digging up secrets for those not quite noble yet burdened with coin, and picking pockets to fill the gaps.
