Jarden av Preden

Level 1 Human NG Sorcerer
(Sage)
7 / 7 HP

Tired, Methodical, Curious, Caring. Jarden(Yohr-den) was a promising student of the arcane arts at the college in Nisiar until he was scouted into the Klif company. Seeing the way Nisiar treated those incapable of using magic, he was quick to abandon his classes in the city for the humble life of a mercenary in the Klif Company.

The major events and journals in Jarden's history, from the beginning to today.

Jarden's Curiosity of the day: The Klif Company has existed for so long that ancient Dreazarsh records mention the company by name. I can't help but wonder where exactly this company comes from and if it was even originally a mercenary company to begin with. You'd think we'd be so influential by now that we'd own a vast swathe of land and consider ourselves a city state, but no. Our population hardly rivals the population of a large village, yet the company has long survived the test of time. You can't tell me it isn't a curious existence.

Jarden's Curiosity of the day: Our world is inherently magical, but that is all thanks to the patrons from which we borrow the power from. While perceived as impossible, if a Patron was to cease to exist would the magic associated with said Patron vanish as well? There has only been a single instance in myth of a Patron dying, and it was only from the hands of another Patron. Perhaps the Patrons aren't as all powerful as we're lead to believe? Many believe Patrons to be immortal, but if they can die are they truly immortal? They may be all-powerful creatures capable of wiping us out with a blink of an eye, but I can't help but feel a great sense of anxiety when I think of what might happen if or when the Patrons fade away...

Jarden's Curiosity of the day: The Drow of Drovinu Pericalinus claim they were saved by some Patron from demise far below the surface of Asterra. They claim to call this Patron Akatosh, but there is no Patron that goes by this name. Curiously, they relate him to the Wanderer but based solely on their own records of the event that couldn't possibly be the case. Stifling the magical adaptability of the Elves while supposedly searing their flesh charcoal black does not sound akin to something the Aljakiim Mau's Mushaya would do. It doesn't even sound normal for any other record of the Wanderer. Is there some rogue Patron going about parading as other Patrons? I suppose it's possible. Personally I believe the deity that cursed the Drow could be none other than Kelsvr, Patron of Treachery and Tricks, but I've no proof of that. The Drow seem less inclined to accept this theory as well, and if you know anything about them you know full well not to incur their anger.

Jarden's Curiosity of the day: While the wanderer is a well known patron across the realms of Asterra, he is not known to have an opposite. The Aljakiim Mau myths talk of him once being mortal. Is it possible that mortals may be capable of ascending to patronhood or is it all a silly myth created by the Aljakiim Mau tribes in a desperate attempt to prove their ancestral tales of an old empire that sat in the sands of Rama'munza? I suppose we may never know.

Joined the Klif Company

After my first year at the college of Nisiar, I was offered the job of joining the prestigious Klif Company. I'm glad to finally be leaving the pretentious Nisiarans behind, I can finally study outside of their perverse domain.
