In her youth, Fara Brightward adventured across Andoran, and gained a measure of fame for defeating Ulizmila, the Witch Queen of Darkmoon Vale. As the Head Priestess of the local Temple of Erastil, the reverend Mother now serves the Sauerton community publicly as a leader and social paragon, guiding her fellow clerics, overseeing care of the sick and needy, blessing the local crops and livestock, and organizing various religious rituals and civic festivals.
Privately, Mother Brightward chooses to serve the community in a much more covert way. As an ally of the underground Bellflower Network, she works with the group of Halfling abolitionists to find homes for escaped Chelaxian slaves and helps them adapt to their new-found freedom and build new lives for themselves in the Sauerton region. Through her countless efforts, and the assistance of the local winery operator Kurt Ballard, she has done much to turn Sauerton into a safe haven for halflings in need of a fresh start.
First encountered by the Party upon reuniting with Jarn Proudmoore, after saving him from his post-mugging captivity. Mother Brightward enlisted the help of the Party to deliver a package of food and supplies to Granny Vera, a friend and local resident living south of town.
After discovering the emergence of a dangerous tribe of subterranean Foul-Fingers goblins in the nearby countryside, the Party brought the dire news to Mother Brightward, who took steps to alert her fellow community leaders and sent word to the Eagle Knights about the pending threat.
Fara "defeated" the evil Witch of Darkmoon Vale not by killing her, but by introducing her to a Gerbie named Mercy, a Fey creature capable of magically erasing bad memories and inspiring overwhelming kindness. While Fara first kept the reformed witch nearby for monitoring and safekeeping, over the years the two of them managed to form a true friendship.
