Session 15: The Lady and the Rat Report

General Summary

She Can Wait...

After the party docked on Bral, Stinkbreath was given a letter to read. It looked very nice, but he couldn't read it. Azid was nice enough to read it to everyone. Maya of the Rock Rat was in danger and wanted Stinkbreath to come and save her. He was very proud of the fact and was ready to go there until Frillo reminded them that they needed to deliver the cure to Evensong.

Turning in the Cure

The party met with Sarra Voz, who quickly reviewed the Maestro's letter. She thanked the party and paid them their 3,000 GP for a well-done job. She asked where she could find the party if she sought after them again. They admitted that they didn't have a residence and were searching for one. Until then, messages could be delivered to their ship at the dock.

The Haberdashery

With large sums of money in their pockets, they decided to do a little shopping--on the way to the Rock Rat, of course. They stopped by a heberdashery where Azid purchased an admiral's outfit. Glebnor found the perfect pilot's cap and bomber jacket. Stinkbreath got a leopard print hood for "special occasions." Even Geasle was happy to join in on the shopping and got himself a swimmer's cap. With this important shopping complete, they decided it was probably best to get to Maya... but one more thing!  

Back to the Docks!

The party returns to the docks because they want a new ballista commissioned for the Hard Nut. While they're there, Quranis is waiting for them and wishes to speak to them privately on their ship.
On the ship, she asks the party if they stole the Doom Croaker from her. The party was rightfully offended by the question and pointed out that they wanted nothing to do with the cursed diamond. Further, they were away from Bral for weeks on another job.
Quranis admitted that she didn't think they did it but had to ask. The diamond had been stolen from a safe in her room as she slept, and now her patron was furious with her. She read the room and knew that the Rat Pack wanted nothing to do with the matter. She mentioned that she was about to go on another job for her patron but asked them to at least listen out for any rumors or news of the diamond in her absence.
After she left the ship, Azid immediately spoke to Stinkbreath, and they suspected it was their fault it was stolen. They had just mentioned to The Maestro that she had received the diamond on behalf of Zagar. They decided it was best to keep that information to themselves and not get involved further with it.

... And Then They Went to Help

With their errands run, the Rat Pack went to find Maya at the Rock Rat. They walked in to find a bunch of rough-looking young men wearing red masks and a very scared boy working the bar. They went up to order drinks and mentioned that they were looking for Maya. The boy just glanced at a large man at the other end of the bar. Stinkbreath ordered some hot ham water, and then the group sat at a table as the boy returned to the kitchen.
As the boy walked out of the kitchen with the soup, Azid sent a message to the boy asking him where Maya was. Surprised by the sudden voice, the boy dropped his soup and shouted out that Maya had been taken. The big guy from the bar walked over, grabbed the boy, and took him into the kitchen. When he returned without the boy, he told the Rat Pack they were closed. Stinkbreath quickly scooted around him and into the kitchen to see the boy unconscious. The big guy threw him back and told the gang to get them.
A bar fight broke out, but the thugs proved to be outmatched by Stinkbreath and the others. The big guy was left unconscious and manacled while the party went to check on the boy. The boy told them he didn't know much, but Maya's old boyfriend returned and took her.
They woke up the big guy and learned his name was El Roy. El Roy told them that his boss, Kipper the Snake, took Maya back to his warehouse on Wasp Street.
The group threw the criminals out of the bar and gave a few gold pieces to the boy, telling him to go to the other side of town and hide out for a week before coming back.

The Minotaur, the Snake, and the Horse

At the warehouse, the party decided to play it as they had a message for Kipper the Snaker from El Roy. The problem was no one wanted to hear it. After a lot of yelling back and forth, they finally decided to let them in and hear them out. The party insisted that it was a message for Kipper, so they allowed only one person to go upstairs. The party quickly decided that Kouvian was the best minotaur for the job.
While Kouvian was led up the stairs, the rest of the Rat Pack was left on the first floor with bandits. Glebnor decided to use the moment to keep them distracted. They started undulating and blowing into a bottle. Next, they grew some gooey breasts to dance with. The bandits were fascinated by the display.
Upstairs, Kourvian found Kipper talking to Maya in the corner. Maya was tied to a chair and disgusted by Kipper's presence. Kipper asked what his boy, El Roy, wanted. Kouvian stumbled over some words trying to think of a response, leading Kipper to finally catch on to what was happening. He told his men to get rid of the intruder. Kouvian smiled and summoned a war horse to the room. The horse began charging and attacking the bandits while Kouvian charged and threw Kipper out of the way. He grabbed Maya, still bound to the chair, and leaped out the nearest window, using himself to shield her from the fall. It hurt--a lot--but it worked. He started calling out "tripwire" for some reason, and Azid took that as a sign to run.
With everyone out of the warehouse, they quickly untied Maya and ran back to the Rock Rat.      

Maya's Little Brother

After returning to the Rock Rat, Maya is very grateful to Kouvian. Then she notices that her little brother isn't at the bar. That's when Stinkbreath mentions that they sent him away with a few gold. Maya is furious about this and demands that he go and find the boy at once.
They tack him down to the graveyard of all places. He was being chased by a trio a mummies!
They engaged the mummies, still feel rather cocky from their previous engagements. They soon realized that they might be outmatched. Desperate to stop the powerful mummies, Azid cast a powerful fireball that burnt them to a crisp. They saved the boy but also found themselves cursed by bone rot. They found a priest that was happy to take a large portion of their gold to remove the curses.

Rewards Granted

780 experience each to Azid, Geasle, Glebnor, Stinkbreath, and Kouvian. Kouvian is also granted a bonus 75 experience for his clever spellwork and rescue of Maya.
