Session XLIII : A Dance of Red and White Report
General Summary
A failed ambush
While the
Uthramians managed to surprise the adventurers, they were ultimately no match for their rage.
Balin Thornbow and
Nalan going as far as chopping of feet off fleeing assailants, ultimately scavenging 60 gp and a broken splint armor. After collecting these, they attempt to quickly hide their bodies while finishing their
Short Rest.
The Price of War
Continuing their travels, the adventurers cross the western bridge to find themselves stumbling on a massive graveyard. Marked by a variety of tombstones, the adventurers start to investigate. While multiple spirits seem to haunt the grounds, none seem to be disturbed by their presence. Examining the tombstones they learn the graveyard preserves the bodies of men, dwarf but also dunmer. Some graves seemed to have been dug in a rush, while others seem part of an organized infrastructure. Further to the north they stumble upon a larger mount and decide to take the path up. Here they find a large circular ground outlined with graves, while a tomb with steps is found at its centre. Upon closer inspection they discover multiple of these graves belonged to the Stormguard, and though Balin is tempted, he decides to halt any grave-diggings. Nalan takes particular interest in the central tomb, wrecking the metal gate blocking entrance. Inspecting the stone coffin inside, the inscription reads
Here lies the Shield of Iudex. May his valiant sacrifice not be in vain.
Nalan becomes very tempted to open the coffin, justifying the action as a need to defeat the possibly soon to be released
Vex. A party vote however declares the gravesite is not to be disturbed and the adventurers soon prepare to leave.
Onwards
The adventurers continue their journey northwards to be met by a river of Aria, re-rembering the potential entrance through the Elven Glade. Deciding this is a probable safer route, they continue their journey toward the Conflux Point.
