Session XXIV: The Battle for Advenere Report

General Summary

The players returned to Advenere to retrieve their gear only to discover it had been nearly overrun by strange fungal growths. They discovered that Brae Cragwhisk had returned to the village a changed man - and not for the better - having sprouted many fungal growths and become catatonic.   Zaki sacrificed a potion of Greater Healing on his behalf, which seemed to slow the growth of the fungus covering his body, and she appealed to Mindok for aid -- however, as a goddess of the mind and intelligence, she was only able to bring him back to his own mind rather than heal his body.   He described how he had wandered through the Forests of Pando and couldn't remember exactly what had happened or how he'd made his way back to Advenere. He described an awareness in his mind - not voices, but colors, sensations, smells, feelings - and said that the others were coming. Soon after, walking fungi invaded the village and did battle with the party.   Upon their victory, Tasha Cragwhisk begged the party to seek help from the Bending Reeds Tribe to heal her husband - despite his transgressions against her - and while the party argued with her, Retired Captain Calico Jack snuck up behind the once again catatonic Brae Cragwhisk and executed him with a shot to the back of the skull.
