Session IX: The Great Bread Heist of 10,645 Report

General Summary

With a day still left to wait before Retired Captain Calico Jack can pick up his umbrella sword, the party went in various directions to pursue personal interests.    Zaki made an early beeline for the Stoneheart Chantry where she spent time with High Priestess Chriseli Oloren who gave her a brief education on the Timeless Ones. One altar in particular - that of Vonun, god of secrets - caught Zaki's attention. Unlike the others, this altar was draped in a gossamer black shroud. High Priestess Chriseli explained that no cleric, disciple, priest, or priestess of Vonun had heard from their deity in nearly a century; he is presumed gone or dead, and if the other deities know his fate, they haven't shared it with their clergy, either.    Meanwhile, Retired Captain Calico Jack, Horxim, and Zenora went out in search of food and a place for Wiinken and Gralgrani's date. Following a delicious scent and the power of her nose, Zenora quickly sniffed out a bakery in a neighborhood clearly populated by the families of the city's garrison. Unsure how to approach the locals and what to order, Zenora tugged on the hair of a dwarf in front of her, who initially rounded on her and seemed about to confront her. In a moment of inspired genius or sheer confusion, Zenora began making strange gestures and faces, prompting the dwarf to make an unforgivable mistake -- taking Zenora for a human child rather than the (mostly) grown halfling she is. Scarlet with embarrassment, the dwarf quickly went into the bakery and selected one of each of the finest breads and pastries available and gave them to the party as an apology for their mistake. Captain Calico Jack expressed his surprise and approval at Zenora's quick grasp of subterfuge and deception, prompting her to declare her apprenticeship ended and proclaim herself a newly minted master of roguery. The trio then checked out a dive bar in the neighborhood called Rubble Drunk Tavern, which they agreed to return to for Wiinken and Gralgrani's date.    Having taken her time getting ready and moving through her morning routine, Wiinken got a slightly later start to her day than the rest of the party, and decided to visit the Earthlight Repository in search of any records of the Sundering, its elemental fallout, and the people who've been studying it. An enthusiastic Firbolg librarian named Fiona Gammidge was eager to help a fellow researcher in a quest for knowledge and provided Wiinken with as many books as she could find on the subject. After a few hours of careful study, Wiinken found mention of not only Elara Cloudwalker, whom she met during her time inside Winslow the ethereal forager, but also two others who seem to be involved in the study of the elemental problem and potentially members of the Arborwatch: Sove Peacewood and Ymeisna Grashni, who was mentioned at the time of writing the book roughly 20 years ago as being in the city of Mandir within the Forests of Pando. Wiinken then asked Fiona if there were any genealogical texts at the Earthlight Repository and she said that while there weren't any here in Rambergam, her sister heads a genealogical repository in Mandir known as The Ancestral Repository. Fiona asked Wiinken to deliver a letter and a wedding gift/peace offering to her sister and gave her a small box for her troubles.    After her time with Chriseli Oloren, Zaki wandered around until she stumbled into an interesting-looking building called The Stone Pitcher, which she quickly realized was a brothel. Fleeing the uncomfortable situation, she ran into Zenora who was in the process of trying to bring her plunder to share with the rest of the party. As they snacked and chatted about their days, Calico Jack and Horxim caught up with them, and the four went on to see Captain Ishbel. Calico Jack invited her to the Rubble Drunk Tavern that evening and his recounting of their battles beneath the Daylight Chambers convinced her to pay the party 15 gold for their retrieval of the glowworm silk.   The session ended with the party leaving from Shul's Shrikes to head to Urbane Outfitters and The Warhammer to check on Calico Jack's commissions and Wiinken emerging from the Earthlight Repository. It is the afternoon of Mindas, 15th of First Seed.
