Session XXV: The Aftermath Report

General Summary

With a clever blend of deception and persuasive magic, the party was able to quell Tasha Cragwhisk's hysteria at seeing her husband executed before her eyes, as Horxim magically suggested that she sit still and quietly outside in a chair while her house was set afire to eliminate and contain any remaining contagion left by Brae Cragwhisk.   They managed to convince the people of Advenere that everything they'd done was absolutely necessary, and instructed the villagers to do the same to anyone else who succumbed to the spores.   Retired Captain Calico Jack appointed Berin Forubron-Demescu the de facto leader of the spore mitigation squad, leaving him armed with a spritz bottle and a cache of vinegar with which to destroy the quickly-spreading fungi.   After gathering the last of their belongings, Zenora was finally able to don a spare set of clothes, though her hair was still crisped and her eyebrows still missing.   They followed Horxim into the Forests of Pando and he led them expertly through the woods without any issues, despite the abundance of carnivorous plants the party was able to see.   After five days of travel, the party arrived in the tree-city of Mandir and were welcomed into the city by one of the Tree's Teeth, the group of rangers who defend the city from external threats.   Wiinken was invited into The Rookery and saw the massive owls that the rangers ride while conducting their patrols and then headed to the The Ancestral Repository with Zenora Quickmantle to deliver the wedding gift to Azariah Fargolor from her sister in Rambergam. They discovered that Azariah is the director of the Ancestral Repository, which is a genealogical library. They asked Azariah to conduct research on Wiinken's uncle Ignatius and on any mention of dragons she might be able to uncover, which she was happy to do to repay Wiinken for delivering the wedding gift from her sister.   Retired Calico Jack and Zaki took Vance Pickerin to the The Bethellan and delivered his unconscious body to Raenisa, the current Master/Mistress of Memory, and explained to her the danger he presents, as well as the threat he poses to Prehn.   Left to his own devices, Horxim decided to go to The Bearded Mare for a pint and ask around for his parents. The tavern was filled with folks from all walks of life, including a few Kenku, which gave Horxim some hope. He asked Berengar Boulderhill, the halfling tavern keeper, if he'd heard the names of his parents, and although Berengar said he had not, Horxim noticed one of the Kenku further down the bar ruffle his feathers in surprise.   Is it possible that Horxim has stumbled upon a lead?   It is the late afternoon of Mindas, 1st of Rain's Hand, Year 10,645 AOE.

A Belated Wedding Gift: Wiinken successfully delivered the lace doily made by Fiona Gammidge to her recently wedded sister, Azariah Fargolor. A Threat Contained: The party successfully delivered Vance Pickerin into the custody of the Mistress of Memory at the Bethellan.
