General Summary
Disembarking the Red Wave, Guinivere and Vondal stopped off at the Murdered Jester for a drink. Ennet Quickfoot, a vivacious halfling woman with firey red hair and piercing eyes, is the dayshift barkeep of the premises. She provided drinks and conversation for our travelers who had just finished a multi-month contract across the Broken Coast. As they left, she turned their attention to the bounty board where Olafur's note was posted. They set off on the Chelro High Road towards Zara, taking a detour off the road about three days in to proceed into the Gulgrove and meet up with this lumber camp. Upon approaching they discovered a number of brutalized bodies that seemed to be workers of the camp. Further investigation revealed a young girl watching them who escorted them to the camp and introduced them to Kadrogi, the half-orc paladin mercenary responsible for guarding this camp. Discussion ensued and the party agreed to help the site workers deal with the monster harrying them in exchange for the laborer's aid in locating Magnus. A trap was set, and the night fell as the snow got heavier. The first to fall was Ouss. Gwen rushed to her aid but by the time Ouss was moving and able to fight, Nalla had been slain and Imza was furious. Winter wolves arrived at the fight, drawn to the scent of blood and the sounds of the fight, triggering Guinivere's traps. The wendigo continued to ambush individual members of the ragtag fighting force as Kadrogi and Vondal dispatched the wolves. Once the dust settled, Kadrogi was bleeding out, all the members of the camp were slain and eaten except for Imza, and Guinivere was injured by a swipe from the beast's claws. Though Guinivere attempted to save Kadrogi, his soul was tired and the spirit was no longer willing to return to the body. In accordance with his god and acknowledging Cuthbert's history as a godar, Vondal supplicated to Thor to create a memorial for them. Lightning struck, and where there was once the horrifically mutilated body of Cuthbert and Kadrogi's lifeless form, there instead was a tree. Leafless and gnarled, deep black, almost glossy bark with a texture and cracking similar to Kadrogi's tattoos. As the night darkened even further and the snowfall gradually decreased, the remaining two adventurers and Imza were left to wonder what was next.
