Session 7: On to Logvale Report

General Summary

Something has happened. I can feel it. Powerful magic has been unleashed. Magic that had been dormant for a long time, centuries I think, maybe longer. Time works different in this place. It is more linear, more of a constraint than it is back home.   Whoever did this, whatever power broke free, it has broken the barrier. The rift is large but invisible. Many were lured through, unknowingly. I could see entire tribes of Dianios scurry through, screaming their warcries, hungry for blood and violence. I don't think they realized they were crossing planar boundries. I don't think they had much of choice either. There is a song in the air, like the tempting cry of a siren. It does not affect me, I think, but I can still hear and even feel it. If this magic is noticeable to me, then those poor little violent souls had no chance. They are at the beck and call of who- or whatever caused this. Someone wants us to cross over, to cause pain and spill blood.   I generally don't like being a pawn in another's plan, but I can't pass up a chance to once again hunt on their world. How long has it been? For me it seems like yesterday, but as I said, time works diffirent here. I was suprised to pick up the trail of Vincent almost immediately. Like he was waiting for me. His scent is faint, masked almost, but our fates are far too entwined for me not to reckognize it.   I did not take me long to find his trail. He is traveling through this forest by horse and cart. He also isn't alone. He never is. Last time I faced him he had his daughter with him. I wonder if she is still at his side? At the place I found his tracks he faced an owlbear. The creature came bursting through the underbrush and was already wounded. Broken branches covered in dried blood led back hundreds of feet. There was a small scuffle and they somehow subdued the animal but did not kill it. It fled when it regained consciousness. They went on their way.   I wasn't far behind, maybe half a day, but I decided to shadow them for a while. There are quite a few of them. Some have magic, others are skilled swordsmen. They are all so very young. While his scent hangs thickly across their campsites, I cannot see Vincent. Either they are hiding him, which I doubt, or he has taken a different shape or form. His daughter is no-where to be seen either.   There is little for me to worry about. While they show promise, none of the young ones pose a threat to me at this point. Only the elder elf could prove problematic. Their ivory fleeced ally is of more concern. Best to stay away from its golden antlers. Their travels were filled with small dramas and trite occurences. Diseases healed with petty magic, boring stories filled with cliches, ...   Twice they discovered the handywork of the Dianios. Another group of human travelers raided and murdered and a lone survivor wandering on the side of the road. Neither deterred them from their chosen path. I too have noticed increased signs of the presence of the Dianios. While irritating at most when there are but a few, in larger groups they can pose a threat even to me. Best to back of for a while and let my hounds keep track of them. Once the tribes have been dealt with I can always make myself known.   Finally I will run my blade through Vincent's heart and take back that what was stolen.   For Neverhold.
