Session 4: Family secrets Report

General Summary

Dear Husband,   I hope this letter finds you well and I pray for your safe return. The reason I write to you is not good news.   First of all, Allistan and Liliana have returned home. They are passing through Hillfield on their way to Keralon. I am sure you would have remembered that they would be visiting, but with all that has been going on I completely forgot. I was caught of guard when they suddenly showed up at our front door. They are traveling with some friends, some of whom do not share our viewpoints.   Allistan and Liliana offered them a place to stay while in Hillfield, and some of them accepted. While I would have preffered they all stayed at an inn, I could hardly refuse our childrens' offer of hospitality. The initial meeting and the evening were pleasant enough, although they immedialty started asking questions about the old Immerglade menhirs surrounding the city. I told them I ordered their removal because I had discovered they were part of an old fey ritual to enact a curse. At the time they seemed to believe me. As midnight grew near I excused myself, claiming fatigue. I locked the door to our bedroom and ventured through the hidden passage to the ritual chamber. I was almost done with the night's prayer when Liliana, Allistan and their friends showed up. They had found the Neverhold Menhir in the garden and wanted to ask me about it. When I didn't respond to Allistan's calls at my door, he broke it down and discovered the passageway. They all came down to look for me.   I could tell Liliana and Allistan were shaken by my appearance in the robe, wearing the ritual hobgoblin mask. I had no choice but to divulge our relationship with Ulther of Neverhold. I tried to explain the benefits our family and the kingdom of Keralon have reaped from our deal with the fey lord. I think Liliana and Allistan understood. Ileas was as loyal as ever and helped defend out position on the matter. I have not regretted taking him in once in all those years. Some of the others were less understanding, especially when Liliana explained her own commitment to the fey. The girl, Hayley and her brother, Luke, were insolent and disrespectful, throwing around accusations of slavery. It was difficult not to have the guards throw them out. For our children's sake I endured. Although there is little these youngsters can do right now, I fear they may one day cause problems for our family. I can only hope they grow up and learn to see beyond their naieve ideals. They must come to understand all we have sacrificed for Keralon.   The other news is that the attacks on the city have continued these past few weeks. The mercenaries stage some form of raid or attack every few days. Mostly it's members from the Satyr clans, but Reinards and Humans are joining as well. I hope the king sends his knights soon to reinforce you so you can once again supress this uprising. Here too I have some news regarding our children. Allistan and Liliana were present at the gate during one of these attacks. I think they had just arrived in the city. Their group defeated the satyrs and earned the respect of the local guards.   With all that is going on, my admiration of you and our children has only grown. I am sure we will all continue to perform our duty so one day we can look back at all we have created in peace. Stay safe, dear husband.
