Session 11: Keralon, Finally? Report
General Summary
Father,
We have finally arrived in Keralon, which allows me to write you on our progress. You will no-doubt be suprised by the timing of this missive. We arrived in the city weeks earlier than originally planned. After an initial set-back we received aid from a fey noble, named Vivienne, who offered us magical teleportation to the edge of the Lorewood near Keralon.
The voyage was eventful. A magical mist cloaked the Lorewood for days and strange fey began hunting us. The most fierce of them all, a hunter named Cornu, seemed to have some designs for Gael. No doubt his elven heritage plays a part in whatever perceived sleight this hunter attributed to Gael. We eventually escaped and defeated the hunter, but it took a sacrifice in the form of a fey ally of Gael. Thank the gods Elsa, me and the rest were saved from this fey menace.
I also have some news regarding the De la Roost family. I remember you and grandfather debating their meteoric rise years ago. I think I have an answer to that mystery. The family seems to have made a deal with the fey king Ulther. They traded the servitude of one of their children each generation for wealth and power. This migth bring their loyalty to Keralon into question, so I advise to keep an eye on them in the future.
This also reminds of some events that occured near Hillfield. One of the De la Roost servants, a satyr boy named Ileas, seems to have some connection to the uprising in that region. With the most recent uprising quelled, this may be of less importance, but it is still something to keep in mind.
I am sure that neither Allistan nor Liliana bare any ill-will towards Keralon, and I can vouch for their characters, but their family seems involved in much unsavory business. I will keep a close eye on them as much as I can.
Keralon is much as I remember it. Elsa and I have returned to our townhouse and found it in acceptable condition. The servants you hired had not yet finished their preparations, but our early arrival excuses their failure. Elsa will soon start taking classes at the finishing school and I have already set up some meeting with influential knights and nobles throughout the city. I am sure we can grow our influence considerably in a few short years.
Our friends have plans of their own. Some, such as Gael and Liliana have already left the city again. Gael to accompany a patrol to Logvale and Liliana to take up service to the fey lady Vivienne. Others want to join a knightly order. Most would prefer one of the Hedge Knight Circles. Given their lack of noble blood, this migth be the best option. Strangly enough, Allistan too seemed charmed by the provinciality of the Cicle of the Long Table. While I agree that their simple focus on the people is charming and befits Allistan's kind and helpfull nature, I hope he will not regret his choice in the future.
Now that we are safe and sound in Keralon, I will attempt to write more frequently, to keep you appraised of the situation in out capital.
With kind regards,
Your loyal son,
Edward Colline
