Session 6: Satyr Unrest Report
General Summary
Paetir, Please don't be angry with me. I have done all you asked, but our plans to recruit your nephew and finally kill those meddling Keralon nobles has failed. As you wanted, I shadowed Ileas during his stay in Hllfield. After a dust-up with some dwarves and a run-in with the guards he and his friends seemed to take a step back from interfering in the local affairs. He started touring the city, visiting popular places with his friends. Both he and the De La Roost twins were clearly acting as guides for their out-of-town visitors. I was hoping to find a way to approach Ileas alone, but unfortunatly he stayed too close to his friends. What's even worse is that they somehow noticed me following them. They turned the tables on me and now started to follow me and I could not escape. I decided to confront them in an alleyway. To my surprise they were friendly enough and allowed me to talk to Ileas alone. I then fully revealed my identity to your nephew and I was happy to find he still remembered me. I offered him the package, explaining how it was an offer of truce and asked him to take it to the Sergeant Berris. He seemed to believe me and accepted the package. I was then allowed to leave. Before I left I told Ileas where to find me. I thought that after he delivered the package he would become an outlaw, like us, and he would have no choice but to join us. At the time I didn't think they suspected the package to be a bomb and I was certain Ileas would deliver the magical explosive to the sergeant and the ruling council. Your plan was genius, Paetir. We could have wiped out the local rulers in a single attack. Somehow they saw through our ruse however. Ileas and his friends gave the bomb to the guards and they had one of their wizards dispell it. What's even worse is that they somehow discovered our hideout at the Sylvan Pastery. Not long after I used the tunnel to leave the city the bakery was attacked by city guards. The team at the bakery was either killed or arrested. Thankfully I had already left at that time. When there was no explosion I figured the plan had failed and when I tried to re-enter the city I noticed the tunnel had collapsed. i don't know if it was the guards that collapsed it or one of our own to hide some of our secrets. I returned to the abandoned tower west of the city and waited to see if Ileas would come. It wasn't Ileas that found me, but a group of city guards. I can only imagine Ileas betrayed my trust and ratted out this hideout as well. Thankfully, Saeriff was here to protect me. He dealt with the humans with ease. I doubt any of them had ever faced a displacer beast before, so they didn't know how to fight him. A few hours later, Ileas and his friends showed up after all. They came looking for the guards, no doubt. I implored Ileas to join us or at least just leave me be, but he has truly been brainwashed by the nobles of Keralon. He cares little for our clans anymore and now serves human masters. Saeriff once again saved me by covering my retreat. I safely made it in to the Lorewood and they did not follow. It is like you said, they are monsters. They take what they want, with little regard for who it belonged to first. Anyone who dares to fight back is labeled a criminal. I know you hoped we could convince Ileas to return to us, but I am afraid he is too far gone. I'll admit, as a young girl I had a little crush on him and when I saw him again now, for a minute, my heart fluttered once again. However, his actions have proven he is against us. He cannot be trusted. I will return to Hillfield and try to reform the cell. We'll retalliate against another gate as soon as we can. Maybe we could hit the prison and free some of our people. We may have lost this battle, but not the war. Faithfully yours, Griselda
