Session 14: Dying Flames Report
General Summary
Dear Luke, You will forgive me for leaving so suddenly. As you know I am not one for long goodbyes. I am certain we will meet again, so there is no point anyway. You have my gratitude for saving me today. I do not know if I could have survived my wounds, had you not arrived. The attack on Caern Fussil caught me by surprise. I underestimated my adversary. I did know his strength had grown so fast. At least I am sure that controlling that many Umber Hulks depleted most of his power, so I will be safe for a while. I will disapppear for a while and will return when my own strength has grown enough to challenge him. I might call upon your help again that day. Please also convey my gratitude to your comrades. They are strong and loyal friends. While I would not doubt their friendship, allow me to offer a warning. I noticed the powers of the Feywild in a few of them. Fey cannot be trusted, and unfortunatly that includes those in thrall to their power. I have been burned by fey deals myself in the past. Stay on your guard. I truly hope this does not happen, but those friends in league with the fey could turn into enemies on the whim of some flighty otherworldly noble. I hope you do as I recommended and venture down into the bowels of Caern Fussil. Its heart is waiting there for you. If you and your friends make it past the defenses put up by my old master the power of this place is yours to claim. First there is the heart of the caern, a large crystal tied to the Plane of Fire. Take it from its fiery resting place and Caern Fussil will die. Once you have found a place to settle down, simply bury the crystal beneath your sanctuary and activate it through the ritual you will find in the caverns below. If you succeed in defeating the elemental guardian of the heart, another treasure awaits you. It is a mighty opponent however, so be careful. I remember my old master sacrificing his old staff to summon and bind the elemental to its duty. By defeating it you should be able to claim that staff. As I recall it is a potent magical tool. I am sorry I won't be there to see your growth these coming months and years. I have high expectations of you, my boy, so you better do your best. When I return I expect you will have become a powerful archmage in your own right. Untill we meet again, Amarra
