Session 8: Bloody mist Report
General Summary
"My Queen, can you hear me?" "Sylvesse, is that you? Yes, I can hear you. Why are you contacting me this way? This will burn out the magic in our connection in but a few minutes." "I know, my queen, but I feel I have no choice. This may be the last time we will speak." "What has happened? Are you ok?" " I am wounded, but not mortally so. I will explain the events of the last hours as quickly as I can, before our connection is lost. It all started with the appearance of a strange fog that covered most of the Lorewood. I believe some curse opened up a rift between this world and the Feywild, and summoned hostile fey to this place. The fog is a side-effect I think. Some of our friends from Tarn, Luke and Hayley, were also adversly affected by the fog's strange magic, although the effect eventually passed." "I have seen no evidence of any rift here, but please continue." "I believe the rift leads to the deep wilds of Neverhold. Several clans of Dianios have come through, as well as Cornu the Hunter and his hounds." "The hunter has retunred to Irminsul? Has he begun tracking young Gael?" "Worse than that, he has already found him. I think he shadowed our friends for a few days as they made their way through the mist steeped forest. Whenever I tried to get close, he vanished, so he probably noticed me. Just as I intended to alert our friends I was attacked by a pack of death dogs. I fought them off, but as I did Cornu attacked the Tarn youths. The fight was brutal as they lacked the magic necessary to fight his Yeth hound and he immediatly used his petrification bow to disable their elven guide. They fought valiantly, but many of them were severly hurt and as they bruned through their magical resources, the battle turned against them. By the time I reached them, they had wounded the hound enough for me to kill it with a single charge. Cornu was another matter however and I advised them to run and let me deal with him." "I appreciate your valor, Sylvesse, but were you a match for the Hunter of Greyshield?" "I am ashamed to admit I was not. I did my best to keep him occupied, but as soon as Gael left Cornu lost interest. He disengaged as soon as he could and I hurt him enough for him to retreat and regroup before going after Gael and his companions." "How are you doing?" "I have been better. His blade cuts deep and my magic cannot heal these cursed wounds. Given enough time I could recover, but I will certainly not get that time." "Has Cornu resumed his hunt?" "Yes. The youths regrouped in the forest and eventually returned to their abandoned caravan. They gathered whatever they could before setting out with a single wagon. For hours I shadowed them, keeping an eye out for the Hunter. Eventually they chose to settle down for the night in a small ruin. Unfortunatly, a group of Dianios was in the area and were attracted to the site by the light of their fire. Another battle ensued and I believe the sounds of combat led Cornu there as well." "Did they survive?" "Cornu seems mostly interested in Gael. I guess he senses his connection to Vincent somehow. After a disastrous battle Gael fled into the woods to lead Cornu away from his friends. At first some of them tried to follow to help Gael, but that did not turn out well. Eventually they returned to the ruin in the clearing and chose to flee. Gael is venturing deeper in to the Lorewood with Cornu on his tail. It will not be long before he catches up." "The wards on the container must be weakening. The Hunter probably senses the artifact inside. He must not retrieve it." "I am aware, my Queen. I will once again aid Gael and try to help him escape. Given my wounds, the chance of me surviving this encounter is slim. I just wanted to say..." "I know, Sylvesse. I know. You are a valued ally, a loyal subject and an even better friend. Do whatever you must and know you will be remembered, always." "Thank you, my Queen," "For once, use my name, dear Sylvesse." "Thank you, Dynia." "May the light of the Immerglade shine your way to the next world. Farewell."
