Session 88 Dungeon Delving into the Tomb of the Shattered Sun
General Summary
Session 88 Recap — 5th of Apollo, 500 C.D.
Dungeon Delving in the Tomb of the Shattered Sun
The companions of the Shining Eclipse press deeper into the shadowed halls of the ancient Ziggurat, now revealed to be none other than the Tomb of the Shattered Sun — a place whispered of in forbidden texts but long thought lost to time.
On the 5th of Apollo, 500 C.D., the party continued their exploration of the first level of this three-tiered labyrinth. In their search, they uncovered murals that shed light on the tomb’s forgotten legacy. In one chamber, they discovered a mural of a regal figure — possibly a royal prince or a god of the Egyptian pantheon. To their surprise, they recognized this figure from a faded carving found on a similar Ziggurat hidden in the Drowned Forest of Northern Azure. Here, however, the image was far better preserved, its colors and symbols almost untouched by the centuries.
In a second room, they found another mural showing well-known Egyptian gods standing beside this same figure. Many among the party believe this figure may be Ra, the head of the pantheon — or perhaps a lost royal heir whose name has been erased from mortal records.
Their delving was not without peril. In Room Six, Jasmal warned the group not to disturb the ancient funerary urns, insisting that the dead should be left to their slumber. Her caution went unheeded — and three mummies emerged to challenge the party. After a hard-fought battle, the companions found a scroll containing a cryptic message:
“The one called Puff holds no map, only memory. Seek the Steward of the Stormwalkers — he who drank the Sky.”
Deeper within, they discovered a chamber with a bottomless pit. When anyone spoke, the pit echoed with disembodied voices from the past. Here, they recovered a Ring of Warmth and a small trove of ancient coins.
Returning to Room Six, now known as the Room of Mirages, the companions narrowly avoided a devastating fireball trap — their quick thinking sparing them from serious harm.
In Room Eight, they found a sarcophagus that likely holds the key to the second level of the Tomb — but it was guarded by four cunning Bone Nagas. Two of the Nagas managed to charm Conan and Dimmir, forcing the companions to face their own in the chaos of battle. Despite the danger, the Shining Eclipse prevailed, banishing the Nagas with only minor wounds among their ranks.
As the dust settles, only two rooms remain unexplored within the Tomb of the Shattered Sun. So far, the party has faced mummies, animated statues, Bone Nagas, deadly traps, and mind-bending puzzles. Ahead lies deeper darkness — and the elusive Puff, who holds the memory they seek.
Can the companions of the Shining Eclipse continue to outwit this cursed tomb and claim the secrets that lie buried beneath the sands of forgotten gods?
