Chapter 2, Session 5 report

General Summary

The party finished their quest in Rennvik, being given 625 gold each. Pisco Roe was given a Seeshan Ice Axe by the Rennvik Elder, whose daughter they rescued. They then travelled back to Istaria, accompanied by Bjorn who was traveling with them in order to thank the Kingdom of Istaria for funding half of the monster's bounty.
In Istaria, the party took a diplomatic mission to Fiera on behalf of the Kingdom of Istaria. They have been sent to look for a missing spy named Alar Thorne, who had been in Fierton spying for the Istarian Kingdom. They know he is friends with Einar, a merchant of rare books, who they asked about in the local Tavern. They spoke to Carl the Cartographer, who encouraged them to visit his shop, Teklav from the elder council who did not want to speak about Einar, and a strange man in hunting gear who warned them that he was dangerous.
First they visited the cartographer, where Cassia purchased a map of Vivanta. Cassia asked about any Vivantan's visiting, and Carl told them that a man had asked for a custom map a month ago. Cassia pre-ordered a copy of the same custom map, which will be ready in 4 days, and put down a 200 gold deposit.
When they visited Einar's shop, they found it empty. The party waited until sunset, meanwhile catching a lot of salmon from the local river, and then went back and found a spare key to Einar's shop under a mat. Inside the shop they found a shipping invoice and a letter to Einar from Julianna, instructing him to drop off items at Halda's Clocks and Watches at night. The party decided to visit Halda that night, while it was still dark.
