Session 46: Under the Sea Report

General Summary

Spending several months expanding the realm, overseeing civic infrastructure and the general running of the realm it was decided that a trip to Sea Elves of Nenyanor. Preparations were made to be able to swim and operate under the water in regions that may not have air pockets. With their tasks complete they would board the Stormwraith, planning to visit Nura Elaris, the now sunken city of Elaris, then north to seek the Wind Temple upon Hrivenor to meet with Arias Patron. Once that was complete they would loop around Velthanor to spend the Summer Solstice with the Summer elves and then return home. Fair weather brought them to the center of the Shattered Sea, where one of the sea elf submersibles was waiting them Transfering some belongings over they descended beneath the waves far below them the faint lights of Nura Elaris reaching up from the depths. As the ship sank lower and lower, magical light and bioluminescent algae and coral would bring life to the city below. Signs of the once great elven city of Elaris were still evident however the ruins had been built over, expanded, and in some places repaired to accommodate its now underwater inhabitants.

Ambassador Thalorien would escort them from the docks across air filled plazas towards a great embassy. The town square was alive with activity, great magical domes held air within this part of the city as great schools of fish could be seen swirling overhead. Where many cities would have birds and squirrels Nura Elaris had fish swirling overhead and crustaceans scuttling about. They would gather a fair bit of attention as Thalorien escorted them into the embassy. Here she would introduce Nerathil, a young sea elf who would oversee their needs during their stay. Nymeria accompanying the expedition to help the Sea Elves work upon ancient elven Crystal work she took in their hodgepodge architectural repairs and eclectic decorating with a judging eye. Furnishings recovered from shipwrecks and ruins filled the embassy, but arranged in such away the various styles and natures still managed to flow together. Once settled in Thalorien would excuse herself and the expedition would be free to explore the city. Aria and Daereth went to the market to seek rare items recovered from the sea while Talindra and Isenara would seek out information and places of knowledge. Talindra would find a library while Isenara would locate a book conservator who specialized in trying to recover waterlogged texts found in the ruins of old Velthanor. Malakar wandered the streets observing the Elves he had never heard of before his time being bound, finding their ways curious. Zaelith would move about the city seeking out signs of unconventional worship and cults, locating many who still gave honor to the old god of the deep waters, Vivendell. She had been supplanted bay the Sea Elves new goddess Tanifa, but many of the old ways still honored the now destroyed goddess Vivendell. Aelornoa would move about the city to learn its songs and stories, eventually being drawn to a tavern called the Shattered Chalice. Once having been a temple of Aranye it now served as a tavern for the rougher sort of Nura Elaris. Many foreigners also gathered here making it a place of cultural exchange among those who wishes to scour the deep for their fortunes. Bahzel after taking in the local flavors found himself to the same tavern tho Aelorna did her best to not be noticed by him. Both would stay thru much of the evening gathering what rumors and information they could.

After several days Aria would meet with the King of the Coral Dominion as it had fashioned itself, Aquilas. He was the leader of the slave Revolts and was crowned their king upon claiming Elaris. The negotiations were even enough as Aria sought military aide to secure the inner sea while Aquilas was careful to be non committal. With dialogue opened and permission to scour the cities archives for information of the Sol Variar the expedition set to work. Malakar was mostly interested in the place where Thurazdurs ascension occurred, and the source of the sundering. Aquilas had little to offer on the matter tho Aelorna believed him to be lying about that. Malakar, Daereth and Bahzel set to work trying to find clues of the ruined temple where the ascension was performed while the others dug into the archives. Finding a promising ruin the second week Malakar, Bahzel and Isenara would seek the ruin, while finding a ruin at the location they struggled to make heads or tales of it, nor gain access. The others found evidence of a second Ruin that could be the temple while Talindra and Zaelith continued to seek evidence of the Sol Variar. With time growing short the expedition bid their farewells for now, not having completed as much as they had hoped, and set back to the surface to board the Stormwraith and sale north to find the Wind Temple.
