Session 37: Corsairs Report
General Summary
The ships exchanged fire from the bolt throwers, filling the sides of each others ships with ballista bolts, the Corsair ships however were set with grapples, pulling the Storm Wraith alongside. The Storm Wraiths crew made ready to repel boarders. Daereth took up place in the aft of the ship with Aria, Talindra, and the bulk of the crew while Malakar, Bahzel and Zaelith held the mid ship. Aelorna and Isenara were in the forecastle as the Shadow elves began to swing across from their vessel.
A blood priestess of the Shadow Elves crossed its bloody Kriss blade with Malakar, the aura of her dark magic sapping the strength and defense of the Nytraven crew. The Corsair captain swung across to the forecastle where her Rapier narrowly missed Isenara. Zaelith would cut down a Corsair and start to move to the Forecastle to aide Isenara. Aria would send a devastating fireball into the enemy ship catching several corsairs while Daereth lead the crew to repel the enemy fighters. Isenara would attempt to trip the captain with her whip only to be deflected and struck with a groan, she would try to move away only to be struck a second time. Talindra would move to try and support with her healing magic while Bahzel fought the corsairs midship. Malakar would send a blast of ice from his spear and continue to duel the blood priestess in a flurry of blows. As Zaelith tangled with the captain, he would soon find himself bleeding from several puncture wounds of the same rapier.
As the battle near Daereth would diminish more Corsairs would emerge from below decks of the enemy ship. Aelorna and Talindra would be forced back to back sending their healing magics into Zaelith and Isenara as the captain tore a bloody path thru them. As Corsairs swarmed to Zaelith to aide their captain she would disengage and move in front of Aelorna whose eyes would go wide as the Rapier was buried to the hilt thru her chest. The last thing she would hear was Talindras scream of pain as the Rapier had pierced her back. As Aelorna collapsed to the deck Talindra would stagger away trying to heal her bleeding wound. As the captain stalked her pursuit of the bleeding oracle, Aria would turn to Daereth, "Help Them!" Malakar would finally gain the upper hand over the priestess as a bleeding Zaelith and Bahzel joined the fray. Malakar would rush to Aelorna to force feed her a potion as Bahzel and Zaelith joined Daereth in the fight against the captain. With a single stroke he would bring the Captain down and look to the others around him confused as to the trouble the captain had caused.
With their captain defeated the remaining Corsairs would start to withdraw. Aria would summon a blizzard that froze over the decks of the ships causing the Corsiars to struggle to return to their ship and attempt to cut the grapples free. With the battle turning Malakar and Daereth would shadow step across to bring the fight to their ship. Malakar would pursue the enemy below deck where his presence would inspire their immediate surrender. This however would not spare Arias furry who ordered all the Corsairs executed and dumped into the sea. Below deck they would find an empty hold and 20 rowing slaves, one of which was a Snow Elf, enslaved since the restoration of Winter. With two ships and partial crews, both vessels would continue the journey to Bri'Inis.
