Session 27: The Final Assault Report

General Summary

Lord Khaelharon commanded the last line of defenders, wielding a spear made of ice from which the banner of his Matron flew, he commanded his men forward. The Nyxthranis wardens advanced as the 1st hunter set her sights upon Malakar and let her bolts fly. Blood priestess's of Leowyn summoned magical kriss daggers of their mistress to swarm Malakar and Zaelith. Bahzel and Daereth would push forward to engage as Aelornas voice rang out to inspire. Isenara would send her cross bow bolts flying as Aria sent bolts of ice and wind into the fray. Zaelith would move up as Talindra readied her healing magics. Khaelharon would point his spear forward as a bolt of Ice shot forth at Daereth and Malakar. Daereth would shrug off the blow, but it struck down Torrent, Arias familiar that was upon his shoulder. Malakar would roll to the side as the Shadow Elf Wardens would swing their curved blades into the melee. Daereths blade would respond cutting thru the wardens, as he tried to draw Kaelharons attention with little luck. The lords Falcata would cut in a wide arch biting deep into Malakar who kept his feet but just barely, thanks to Bahzels interventions shielding him. Zaelith would cut thru another warden, the first Huntresses bolts flying from the enemies back lines. One Warden would flank wide and engage Isenara. Talindra would mend Malakars wounds then fall back to aid Isenara as Aria pushed forward for her magics to reach the blood priestess. Bahzel would deliver a blow to the Lord Khaelharon before drawing his ire next. Spear and Falcata would cut into Bahzel then flense his flesh causing a great bleeding wound beneath his armor. Malakar would shadowstep to the back lines of their foe and start cutting thru the Priestess's there. Talindra would draw the flanking wardens attention as she now fell under heavy attack. The wounds were mounting among the expedition as Aelorna stepped forward her bardic magics mending Malakar then Bahzels wounds as Talindra healed herself and made her escape from her assailant. As the battle balanced upon the brink, Zaelith, protected with magical mirrored doubles of himself stepped up to Khaelharon, his blade crackling with lightning he would deliver a devastating blow to the Commanders armor gap. Steel would sink deep as electricity shocked thru his body stopping his heart. The Elven lord would fall in a heap as Draevira the first hunter started to give ground, the priestess's around her falling. Drawing her rapier she would make her final stand against Malakar, the two exchanging blows before a blast of dark energy from Talindra would knock the 1st Huntress unconscious from searing pain. Malakar would spin his sword in his grip till it was facing down, looking to Aria. "End her" would come the simple reply, Malakar would nod and plunge his sword into Draeviras chest.  

As they advanced upon the swirling shadow portal, a summer elf would give a tip of his hat before stepping thru, the portal vanishing behind him. Several hundred of the cities populace that were fleeing before Aria's army would cry out as the portal closed. "Kill them all...." Aria would give the command, with cool confidence. Daereth would nod and lead the 1st Eriadore into the slaughter. Nyxthranis now secure, they would set about to looting and pillaging the remains of the city. Aria would claim the royal palace for her headquarters as the others set about to recovering as much wealth, knowledge and resources as they could from the city before burring it beneath the mountain. Over the next 24 hours the rebel leader Nauriel would be brought in to give further intel and plan for the exodus of Nyxthranis. She did not seem pleased that her home would soon be destroyed but did not protest, as freedom was better then servitude. Aria would give orders that any loyal inhabitants would have first rights to any wealth belonging to them, and the rest would be extracted for the realm. As they questioned Nuariel and other rebels, they would learn Luthias had visited the city before the onset of war and days before the flash of armies descended to the deep beneath in search of something. Luthedir and his sea guard would depart into the deep to hunt the renegade, while the expedition continued their work in the city. Aranesi, Isenaras twin would arrive to begin to catalogue any books and knowledge, to have it brought home. Malakar would study on his own, training with the winter spear he had claimed from Khaelharon. Daereth would oversee the cities sacking while the rest saw to the transfer of goods back to Hithfaer. A week would pass and the Seaguard were now several days over do. Aria would assemble her expedition to discuss what was to be done with the missing Seaguard on the tail of Luthias.
