Session 3: Ant-i violence Report
General Summary
NOTE: Harlen was absent during this session, and Nancy R. took over the role of Game Master to great effect!
10/26/25 dUUngeons and dragons synopsis
Began in the sanctuary for TFAA led by Rev. Deborah with a story about “not my problem” and how small problems can become big problems, or can cause problems for others when not dealt with.
Pre-game the group lit the chalice and agreed to add a line to the class covenant to follow the initiative order.
Missing today were Estrella (Elizabeth) and Q (Finn), but a new youth joined (Estelle) who chose a Drow Rogue character, that is yet to have a name.
Rev. Deborah stopped in, to see what we are up to. She asked about everyone’s character and whether there were any similarities between our characters and ourselves. We learned that Katherine’s character is small like her. Ellie and her character like the color blue. Cici and her character both dislike sunlight. Antony’s name is not actually Tim, and that I do not steal like my character, but my character and I both give to charity.
The game begins…..
The adventurers took a few minutes as a group to discuss our overall strategy in dealing with the ants, and came up with the idea of bug spray. Zello realized she had poison in her possession, and so they had a plan.
First up was Hell Hound who prevented an ant from advancing by blocking it with her body. Then it was the ants’ turn, and except for the one stalled by HellHound, the ants all moved closer to the food. Oh no, the giant ants were converging on the tents! Luckily Tim used fairy fire and was able to light up one ant, which was then taken out by Zello’s poison. They had hoped to be able to use that strategy to put an end to all of the ants in one fell swoop, but the rolls did not go their way. Next up was Canny who used a sneak attack to successfully kill one of the ants. Now there were just 3 more to go. River used a frost attack to do away with an ant, and they were down to 2. The new adventurer tried to use her hellish rebuke to send an ant away, but was only able to stop it from advancing. It was back to Hell Hound’s turn, she, realizing she had a crossbow, destroyed an ant with a beautifully shot arrow. Seeing that there was only 1 giant ant remaining, one of the adventurers proposed a solution that would benefit both the adventurers and the ants. The adventurers decided to give 3 dead ants to the one remaining ant to bring back to its queen for food. The adventurers would keep the last dead ant for themselves to supplement their own food, as the new adventurer claimed she was a good chef and could make it into a nice meal. The adventurers were concerned about the ant being poisonous to eat, but Owl seemed happy to have some fall back food. All adventurers were pleased with the results; the camels were unharmed, they had food to live on, and were safe for another day.
UU values discussion brought up “generosity” in giving the ant something to take back to its queen, even though the food given was its fellow ants, the adventurers did not kill them all and leave the queen to starve.
