III. b. An End at Last
General Summary
Thessday, 5803 Suncrest 35
It has been three days underground as you wove your way blindly through the Labyrinth of the Memories guided solely by intuition and Max's knowledge within the maze. With so many paths ahead to choose from, there was little debate before you chose the closest path to you.
Your third day in the maze was closing like the two before when Ash spotted something in the distance - a difference in one of the walls and the first you have seen since the Hall of Light. Nearly exhausted, you decided to camp there for the night. While Ash and Max took first watch Ash's restlessness and curiosity got the better of her and she went out for a walk and discovered more lowered walls, including one that she could jump to catch the top of.
At what you took be your morning, Ash described to you what she'd found and everyone but Tort, who was still sleeping, ran to investigate. With some solid persistence, Boran was able to throw his axe, tied to a rope, up onto the stone wall, where you all climbed up. Realizing you were still missing Tort, Dreamhawk ran back to not so subtly wake him with a broken arrow.
You followed the top of the maze as a path until you found something you couldn't believe - buildings seemingly carved from the stone. You entered the first, finding four more alters and another celestial inscription on the floor, you learned more of the Near-End War that was ever taught to you before. Each of you, aside from Boran, placed an item as an offering on the alters, Ash at Nyxari's alter, Max at Durogath's alter, Tort at Shurazan's alter and Dreamhawk at Nexaril's alter. As the last offering was placed, those who placed their offerings had their minds filled with the memories of the Near-End War, seeing the power and might of the gods' avatars, and worse yet, seeing massive chains that left a deep feeling of unease. Max noted that he feels as though you have begun or become intertwined in something that you do not understand.
Moving to the second floor, you are surprised to find a room buried in sand. Dreamhawk, the most seasoned of you adventurers, immediately recognized that something was being hidden in here. Before long he found a trunk laden with ancient and strange looking monies, but recognizable all the same. With some more digging, you found a handful of weapons that appeared to be untouched by time, a few gems, and more money.
Upon moving to an unseen third floor, you were flabbergasted to find yourself met with fresh air and the stunning sight of a brilliant and ancient city, gleaming lights dotting the horizon like the unseen stars far far above. Everything about this place matches the myths and legend of Yis'tilah'ste - one of the first cities and cultures in Vetharyn.
You have found the treasure of all treasures, so now what will you do?
