Session 1: Arrows and Goblin Stew Almost Report

General Summary

The motley party is ambushed by goblins on its way from Neverwinter to Phandlain while escorting Gundren Rockseeker's supplies. "Lord" Ragroth, Raffal, and Court Coppercobbler are hit, but the party still manages to defeat the goblins, and discover the dead horses, which Gundren and Silvar Hallwinter rode out on.   The party rests for the night, intending to pick up the trail in the morning. While making camp, Ragroth suggests that they skin and eat the goblins. Several party members (Court Coppercobbler, Ryk Strjanna, and Raffal) start to wonder about their companion, forming the initial stages of losing trust in whom they are adventuring with.   In the morning, the party picks up a well-worn goblin trail and place the the least-astute tracker, Ragroth, in the lead, both to keep an eye on him, and and to conveniently be the first to detect several traps the goblins left. Later, the party encounters a young man named Calder tar Sar-Gath from the Neverwinter Forest, who decides to joint the team, as he himself is hunting goblins as well.   Together, they find the Cragmaw Hideout and and decide to sneak in. The druid, Ryk Strjanna, is able to becalm the wolves guarding the entrance, and they proceed in, but with Raffal leading, and Ragoroth deciding to stay outside. While this is going on, Ryk frees the wolves, and creates a magical beast bond with one of them, who is now her faithful companion - at least for a while.   While this is going on, the party proceeds further into the cave, not aware that a goblin guard on the bridge noticed them and sneaked away to to release a water trap and notify his leader, "King" Klarg. The party is lucky and able to not be swept away by the rushing water and the proceeds up a narrow defile, not necessarily making the connection that the rushing water was a deliberate action.   The party climbs the defile into chamber where six goblins guarding the captive Silar Hallwinter, and under the second-in-command, Yeemik. Raffal, Court, and Madeira lead the initial charge into the chamber, followed by Ryk and manage to eliminate goblins, but at some injury. They begin to assist Silvar Hallwinter, but then hear other goblins approaching.   Around the bend comes the bugbear Klarg with several goblins. Ryk thinks fast and uses nature magic to summon a mass of vines which restrains the advancing enemy, allowing the rest of the party to mass ranged weapons and eliminate this party of goblins.   Meanwhile, Ragoroth entered the chamber, saw the fight and then decided to go wandering on his own into the darkness. The session ends as Ragoroth takes an arrow to the back out of the darkness ..... are there more goblins? Does the rest of the party hear this as they bandage themselves after the main fight? What does Silvar Hallwinter know?
