Finalizing the Servitor
The party saw the misfortune and fate that befallen the Merryweather estate. Afterward, they encountered the Bloated Tree and managed to convince the Servitor and shades to stand back and let the tree fall. Just as the tree neared its end, the shades couldn't cope any longer and they all lashed out, including the Servitor.
The tree would fall. Revealing Eleanor Merryweather, who would also save her husband Sloan Merryweather, from being a shade. From there, the couple were grateful to let go of their tragic past and move on.
Moonlit Ritual in Marecoro
The party returns home. It's here that they receive a letter from Daniel's former professor, Sylvester Malrose, about strange magic that his mad colleague, Nearis Denitry, had been up to a horrible ritual. Unfortunately, Mr. Winthrope speculates that the letter was received far too late, considering the travel time between here and to the southern province. The ritual would likely be taking effect.
Within the Province of Marecoro, the party went to Hollow Hill. There, they saw featherless avians become angered at the sight of John Wrench. The wretched things had barely any sapient cognitive function.
Further exploration into the village showed that the village was under occasional attack by even stranger avians: five eyes and four sets of wings now. The locals theorized that the water was tainted but only the avians would be affected. Such water would also be used for cooling in the power plant.
Power Plant
A Nightgaunt psion was convinced by John to let the party in to investigate, only for the creature to potentially sway John into more unscrupulous dealings. From there, the party met with Nearis Denitry at last. In a failed surprise attack, Cassius revealed that the Nearis in front of them was merely a projection, an illusory form. John offered Denitry a deal: Meet in person so he could provide teleportation runes to the general area of Drak, the fallen Creator, in exchange for knowledge of creating souls.
Denitry accepted... and now... the mad professor approaches.
